Fisher returned last evening from Blue River where he has been looking after his mining properties. Mr. Fisher states that the snow has all disappeared at the Lucky Poy mine and surroundings, but 1 uiai near ine top 01 tne mountain it is very deep and still covers the buildings in those parts. Mr. Fisher tells us of another rich strike hav ing been made recently in the Lucky Jioy mine. The quartz ledge which has been 30 feet wide is now 36 feet and the ore taken out is very 'rich with the sparkling yellow metal. Much activity is already noticed in the mines and when spring fully opens in the district, there will be more miners and prospectors there than has ever been before Guard. ' The eminent geologist of Harvard College, Professor N. S. Shaler, ;iu a recent lecture declared that the greatest influx of gold .that the world has ever seen , the next thirty years because of geological conditions com bined with improved mining apparatus and methods. He says: "The 1 new systems of mining which have recently been discovered will have i produced by the middle of the present century an almost intolerable supplv of goto." And he adds: "If the price of cold goes down, an other metal must be looked for as a this will be silver, because silver is cause, owing to the difficulty in mining, it will not change its value."
