Mass of Golden Ore.
One of the richest .strikes in the
history of Hohciuia was made at the
Knotts mine 011 Grouse mountain ,
this week.
The vein is 24 feet wide and tiie
ore is a glittering mass of gold.
Specimens brought to "this city
and turned over to Mrs. li.J. IM11
nican, the owner of the mine, are

by competent judges place its value
at from $10,000 to $20,000 per ton.
The .strike has set the miners in
Hohcmia afire with the gold fever,
and the property is thronged every
day with excited miners from alt
parts ol the district to see the'inar
velous ore.
The vein has been traced by its
croppiugs the entire length of the
claim 1500 feet.
' Thirty-eight years ago when
Joseph Knotts, the father of Mr.s.
l'innican, bought the mine from
old Itohcmia' Johnson, a 5-stamp
mill was' erected and twG shafts '
were sunk one 75 and the 'other 60
feet. Much ore was milled with
