Colorado Arrived Safely.
D. Lincoln writes to the Nugget
in substance as follows regarding
ilijycent trifl- to Colorado. The
(riends of Mr. aud Mrs. Lincoln
fi'bejplcased to hear from them:
jfcEtjjffigget, May 8 We arrived
at tJfgTmd of our journey Pueblo,
Colorado, after a splendid trip via
the S. P., O. R. & N. and Rio
Grand railways, without uuneces-
sarydelay on the 5th inst. at 6:30
o'clock. Since then we have been
nicely entertained by our relatives
and friends. This city is far be
yond my most sanguine expectations
as regards the locatiqn and the
great commercial interests of an
enterprising people. Speaking of
manufacturing industries I might
mention the gigantic steel plant
which employs about 1500 laborers.
There are two large smelters of the
precious metals, which I think em
ploy about the same number of
hands. The city has a fine electric
light system, also a splendid water
system. Of course it is not sup
plied with such water as gushes
forth from the mountains and sup
plies the water system of Cottage
Grove, but it is nevertheless a
magnificent system when we take
into consideration that it supplies
water to a city of 45,000 inhabitants.
I trust Mr. Editor that you will
give this space knowing my friends
in Cottage Grove will read it and
accept it as a token of our friend
ship; D. Lincoln.
