April 6, iopo'.v-
Another fall of the beautiful today.
Quiet reigns supreme at the Champion.
1 Dick Jennings returned to camp yesterday.
Hugh Hehcne now has charge of the .Helena mine.
Chas Geldmacher is superintendent at the Ely camp and is show
ing' up some fine ore.
Holdennan & Hickey will soon complete their contract at the
Fletcher &' Reed mine.
Dan Colton has ojened up some fine ore this winter on his group
of claims just cast of the Noonday mine.
The Golden Slipper group is undergoing extensive development
under the able management of Supt. Hogg.
. Zinaker & Iand are showing up some excellent ore on their Min
ora) King group which is a fine property.
The Music mill will soon start or as soon as the needed repairs can
be put on, then another famous Bohemia producer is again in operation.
The famous Helena mill and mine are now both running full blast
and the sound of the heavy stamps are ringing through Horseheaveu
canyon.
The prospectors who returned this week from over in Frank Brass
canyon present a woe begone appearance and say Oregon is the biggest
state they ever walked over.
Our old friend David Ivey is still at the old stand down Horse
heaven canyon and is still showing up some good property. This end of
camp will some day be as great a bullion producer as other more fa
vored spots.
There is great activity over in Champion canyon now that the
snow is gone. Johnnie Woods has erected a mansion just below the
Grizzly. Klopfsnstien & Byrne Bros have also built a fine resideuce
making in all 8 new houses built inside ofa year. A pretty good show
ing. A reward of $8 will be paid to anyone giving informaiion as to the
b whereabouts of Weary Willie the wandering watch tinker who left our
2 neighborhood camp the other morning and when last seen was pointed
toward Cottage Grove. This reward will be paid in kash or, part kash
c and the rest in mink hides by Dock Bowers late of Illinois.
The little mtll over at .the Ridge hotel is shut down on account of
o mismanagement or inexperience. This is another instance proving that
2 Oregon should have a mine inspector of competent ability. Anyone
knows $30 ore will pay if properly handled, but mine owners must learn
n ' by experience to condemn their mines t before going to the expense of
g putting in mills.
S , Nunn, Reed & Morgan are preparing to erect a mansion on their
g fine group of claims just north of the Noonday mill as soon as "the
o weather will permit. These gentlemen have a large amouut of work
a planed for the coming summer and from present indications they will
have something that will rival the famous Helena. They have ore on
b their dump with gold plainly visible to the eye without the use of a
glass. This with their favorable location makes this one of the best
groups in Bohemia
The writer met a dilapidated looking object on the trail the other

was crippling along with a cane in both hands and a little pack on his
