Just below and situated on the same magnificent stream is the groun owned by Masterson, Cuiuming & Sehr et al, one of the most recent dis coveries in the district. Although only about a month old this company is pushing their work steadily and from samples brought out they have as fine showing as is to be found in the district. Houses, sheds and other permanent improvements have been erected, and being below snow opperatious are to be pushed all winter The locality alone is one of the best in the world, timber and water in abundance and so far as work has been pushed the ore is all that could be desired. On the south side of this stream there are a number of good mines under various stages of development. Among the foremost is the Balti more and Orphan Hoy owned by Edjenks a prominent mining man of local distinction who is pushing development almost continuously and with the best of results. This property is opened in several different places all of which show a good strong ledge of free milling ore. This is one of the most promising properties on this side of the district. On this hill of mineral is another fine mine owned by the same company and known as the Cottage Grove, which is cut by a tunnel 350 feet in on the vein with a cross cut from wall to wall every 40 feet showing the lead to 1 a 1 r r. . t . i.t 1 . oe very strung unci ironi iu 10 30 ieei 111 wiuin ana carrying a large pei cent of copper and lead besides gold. Least but of no less importance is the magnificent timber of which this district is amply supplied there being fir, pine, cedar and hemlock for all mining purposes and surrounded on all sides by grand scenery, good hunting and fishing. The next mines of any note are to be found on the famous Fairview mountain, which is a hill of gold. On its broad, brow is situated many of the most noted mines of Bohemia. First to the north comes a group of 2 owned by Knowles, Gettys & Brund. On this promising lead work has been carried on continuously for the last 2 years. A crosscut has bctu driven low down to tap the ledge at a great depth, which was re cently cut and disclosed a fine vein 3 feet wide. On this lead is to be found several different characters of formation, first and most prominent is granit, then blue slate and hornblead and guiess all of which are gold mineral bearing formation, with timber and water for all mining purposes. These gentlemen have good houses, shops and snow sheds and are pre pared to car. y on a large amount of development the coming winter. Going from this mine to the east and south we find the Long & Johnson mines in a successful stage of development. A force of men are at present sinking a shaft to connect with their lower level to furnish air. This mine is supplied with a small prospecting mill of 2 stamp capacity and run by a turbine water wheel. This is a fine location. Then comes the Bell of Fairview owned by Alf Walker a prominent business man of Cottage Grove. There are 2 claims in this group both of which show good strong veins. Mr. Walker is at present working a crew of men doing assessment work on this mine. Next comes the Stocks and Harlow group of 5 on which a large amount of good work in tunnels and good substantial buildings including a 5 stamp mill with steam power. This group was recently bonded by Jdr. Parks for London capitalists and at present is undergoing exteusive development. Mr. Parks has also bonded the German group owned by Zinar & Graw'vU-os. on the German or Vesuvius. There has-been a large a..
