Alf Walker has been in the hills the last week doing his assessment
work on his Knirview property.
The J. K. Young property is coining to the front rapidly. Cabins
and tunnel houses are being erected and development work of a sub
stantial nature is being planned.
John and Kclix Curriu on Horse Heaven are doing some extensive
drifting on their property with exceedingly good results.
Kly and Pearson are into some fine milling ore, and the property is
highly spoken of.
J. D. Pletcher returned to camp last Monday after a short visit in
in your city. S. K. Ilolderman and Norman Hickey are doing some
thorough development work on Mr. Fletcher's property.
Peterson & Cluekey have struck some fine ore on their property on
the east side of Fairview.
ThcGiiz.ly group Klophenstein, Byrne & Johnson an interest
of which was recently sold to English capitalists, is now undergoing de
velopment work, under the supervision of Fred Byrne. It is understood
that active operations will be conducted on this property throughout the
winter.
The recent rich strikes at the Ridge are still attracting much at
tention and new prospectors are coming in each week. It is said that
Messrs Brooks & Scott will make arrangements to put in a mill this
fall.
The Grouse mountain Mining and Milling Company, a close cor
poration, incorporated by Jack Klophenstein, B. E. Hawley and Henry
Johnson is now in shape to take on active development. The locations
were made last year, but only surface work was done. ThLs year a com
fortable cabin has been erected 16x40 feet, and now the owners are
ready to commence two tunnels the work on which will be carried on
the grcatei part of the winter.
Deputy U. S. Mineral Surveyor W. F. Briggs of Canyonville, who
has been employed in the Bohemia district for the last two months re
turned to his home last Friday . Mr Briggs has done some extensive
underground and surface work for the Musick Mining and Milling
Company while in the district and his draft sheets show up his work in
a very commendable manner. He has a very complete map of the
tunnels, shafts, ore schutes, and stooping of the Defiance and California
claims of the company, which are of great interest to anyone interested
in mines.
The new store building at the Musick is now completed, and it is
said a stock of goods will be put in rigbt away.
The public schools of this city will
commence tiio second Monday in
October.
