Hardy of Eugene who are interested in several mining groups in this district, visited here . the last week. It is understood that Superintendent I. H. Bingham Of the Musiek ' is making arrangements to drive u tunnel through the saddle betweeii Kail view and Bohemia mountain some 1500 feet below the ridge with a view of lapping the group of claims recently purchased by Mtisick Min iug and Milling Companv, from Ike Jones. Superintendent Bingham is a man thoroughly acquainted with mining in its every phase and the very fact that he will go to the expense of such an amount of tunnelling speaks well of the district. A noteworthy point with Mr. Bingham is the fact that while be ha.s a soft spot for the magnificent property owned by his company, he has a good word for all the property which shows development in the district. lie believes the camp to be an immensely rich base proposition, with every indication that it will at no far distant day cut an important swath in mining circles. The White Swan people are doing some essential development work. They have a 44 foot full width tunnel at this Writing, showing an ex1 cel'.ent quality and an abundant amount of free-milling ore. This property so far as work has gone promises to be of much value. , It is said that Bird Farrier the well known prospector has redently sold a half interest in a group of three claims in this district to E. Si Lovelace recently from the East. Perhaps, considering the date of organisation (this year) of the" company, no camp presents a more "lifelike" appearance than tlie Gala-pr,o;a-Bohemia Gold Mining and Milling Company. Active operations are being carried on there. Bunk houses, stables, blacksmith shop and office have recently baen erected, say nothing of an 80 foot open cut w'lich produces a fine grade of free milling ore, showing gold in many instinc; to the ra':ed eye. The ore is taken from the Golden Wonder a-id Autocrat claim, and is being dumped into a large ore bin already erected, and preparat:ons are being made qs rapidly aS possible to put in a mill as soon as sufficient ore is in sight to justify. .vcvcx4.vw 1 The Anaconda Gold Alining company is maKing preparations tor """" " : the establishment of a permanent camp, and it is said that they will con- j tinue work perhaps all winter. Over at the Winchester claim owned by Dr. Snapp rtrtcl J . I. Jones it is said they have struck it rich in the matter of lead ore. Assays re turn 60 per cent lead, 4 per Cent copper besides some gold arid silvdr. G. Medows, well known among mining men of Boheinia who has buffeted with the ups- and downs incident to mining life has struck handsome copper ore on his property Nemo and Falling Star. Mr. Medows is a clever gentleman, an industrious worker and certainly de serves the best of success. The Klophenstine-Johnson-Byrne Bros are doing assessment work: on G. Wander's claim the Benefit, and it is said they afe running; against some excellent ore. . Word has reached the camp that Ed McKibben the cleuer engineer on the day shift at the Musick is visiting your city and while there lias discarded single cussedness to double happiness. Well Ed is an alright fellow, and the sincere congratulations of bis associates go with him. Each week brings new faces into the Bohemia district, and a few" moments conversation with the new comers convinces one in nearly' every instance that they are "against" mining men. Yes, they arecom intr. mininc men from every quarter of the globe.
