City’s annual Tree Branch Pick-Up returning in May Daryl Ann Williams
The City of Cottage
Grove’s annual Tree
Branch and Limb Pick-
up is only about a month
away.
With the upcoming
opportunities for great
weather, now is the time
to trim and start col-
lecting the limbs and
branches to put out for
the city crews to pick up.
The first round of the
Tree Branch and Limb
Pickup will begin on
Monday, May 3.
The Tree Branch and
Limb Pickup is meant to
provide an opportunity
for residents to trim trees
and shrubs specifically
those trees and shrubs
that are located along
streets and sidewalks and
dispose of those materi-
als at no cost.
Trees are supposed to
be trimmed up to eight
feet above sidewalks and
over 13 feet above the
street.
Residents are asked to
pay particular attention
to those trees and their
impact on the sidewalks
and streets.
Make sure that no tree
branches block signs.
In addition to trim-
ming the trees that are
to purchase onsite.
Pre-orders will con-
tinue through tomor-
row, April 23.
All sales final.
Pick up in Eugene on
April 24, between noon
and 6 p.m.

Eric Irby Robinson, 64, died
at home in Cottage Grove,
Oregon on April 2, 2021
of cancer. He was born in
Munich Germany on May 16,
1956 to William and Eliza-
beth (Archer) Robinson. Eric
graduated from Clover Park
High in Tacoma, WA and
Washington State University.

April 12, 2021. She was born
on October 5, 1951 in North
Vernon, IN to parents Robert

She graduated high school and

Cottage Grove, Oregon passed
away on April 12, 2021. She
was born October 22, 1933 in
Duluth, Minnesota to parents
John and Lila (Brandt) Ikola.

Helen worked at the Hot Spot
Café and Bakery in Cottage
Grove. Helen married Ronald
Ray Hull on December 27,
1953. She was a member of the
Church of Christ on Sixth and
Gibbs. Helen was a homemak-

Robert Lee Mullins (Bob),
70, loving husband and father
died on April 10, 2021 in Eu-
gene, OR. He was born in Cot-
tage Grove, OR on July 7, 1950
to Pascal and Sybil (Pearson)
Mullins. He lived in Cottage
Grove his entire life. He mar-
ried Barbara M. Th ies in Au-
gust 1969. Bob began his career
working at the local Weyerhae-
user mill. He then went on to
purchase his own truck and

Danny “Dan” Clinton Min-
er, 63, of Cottage Grove, OR
passed away on April 12, 2021.
He was born in Eugene, OR on
October 26, 1957 to parents
Henry and Ida (Crawford)
Miner. Aft er graduating from
high school he began his ca-
reer working for Bob Mullins
Trucking. He worked for the
Bureau of Land Management
(BLM) and most recently as a
fl eet manager for Koos Trans-
portation. He married Kathy
Th weatt, they later divorced.
He married Lynn Jones on
from there his company grew
to become a very successful
business. Bob was the proud
owner of Bob Mullins Truck-
ing and two rock quarries in
the area. Bob had a passion for
collecting and restoring classic
cars. His favorite was his 1937
Chevy that he purchased when
he was 14 years old. Bob is sur-
vived by two daughters, Me-
lissa Mullins, Megan Millard,
her spouse Adam and their 3
children, Audrey, Natalie and
Mavrick; two brothers, Don
Mullins, Bill Mullins and his
wife Linda. Bob was preceded
in death by his wife and love of
his life, Barbara in May 2018
and his sister Gilda. A Cele-
bration of Life will be held lat-
er this year. In lieu of fl owers,
a donation to the Pete Moore
Hospice House may be consid-

ing, playing guitar, and singing.

til her passing.  In 1994 they
moved to rural Polk county.
Daryl is survived by her
mother, husband, daughter

liams, four grandsons and

52 years at her side.  She was

Harley Edward Lewis Jr.,
80, of Cottage Grove, Or-
egon passed away January
12. 2021. Harley was born to
parents Harley and Millicent
(Owen) Lewis December 28,
1940 in Roland, Oklahoma.
Aft er graduating from Sier-
ra High School in Tollhouse,
California, Harley attended
Fresno State College and re-
ceived his bachelor’s as a die-
sel mechanic. Harley worked
as a tree surgeon for Juanquin
County, and as a heavy diesel
mechanic for Weyerhaeuser,
Eugene Sand and Gravel, and
spending time with family.
Irene is survived by her
daughters Pam Wilson of Cot-
tage Grove, OR; Vicki Jacob-
son of Junction City, OR; son
David Wilson of Dorena, OR;
step-daughter Mary Parks and
Donna Robertson of Flori-
da and step-son Gary Wilson
of Florida; 7 grandchildren;
7 great-grandchildren and 7
step-grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death
by her husband Joe Wilson and
a grandchild.

Harley Edward Lewis Jr.
at Rexius where he retired. He
started racing stock cars on a
dirt track in his 20’s and won
several championships at Pla-
cerville, CA and Cottage Grove
Speedways, as well as earning
a place on the hall of fame at
both speedways. Harley loved
the outdoors, camping, fi shing,
and hunting. He is survived by
his son Harley (Mary) Lewis
lll, of Turlock, CA; son Benja-
min (Denise) Lewis of Stock-
ton, CA; daughter Elizabeth
(Pat) Risso of Cottage Grove,
OR;daughter Rebecca (John-
ny) Lewis of Glendale, AZ; son
Jonathon Lewis of Lebanon,
OR; sister Ruth Long of Au-
berry, CA; sister Joan Tibbet of
CO; 13 grandchildren and 19
great-grandchildren. Preceded
in death by his parents. A Cel-
ebration of Life to be held on

Plant pick-up is Saturday
The Lane County
Master Gardener As-
sociation 2021 Spring
Plant Sale will have ur-
chased plants available
for pick-up this Satur-
day, April 24.
Due to the Covid-19
pandemic, orders were
purchased in advance
online only, with icus-
tomers signing up for a
time and pick up loca-
tion upon purchase.
For the safety of cus-
tomers and volunteers,
no plants were available
along streets and side-
walks, residents should
feel free to trim all the
other trees and shrubs on
their property.

Mary Ellen Ladd (some
know her as Skip) passed away
on March 15, 2021. She was
born in Toledo, Washington
on April 11, 1933 on a 160 acre
farm. Her parents were An-
drew and Maude (Lambert)
Cooper. She was the 9th born 
of 13 children.
Mary was a good student
and wanted to be a teacher. She
graduated from high school in
Oregon and started college but
met Ray Ladd in 1951. Th ey
married February 8, 1952 be-
fore he was sent to Korea.
Th eir marriage lasted over
69 years (until her passing)
and produced 7 children. Mary
was pre-deceased by an infant
daughter Linda in 1955. She
leaves behind her husband Ray
and six children and spouses.
Larry (Faye), Cathy (John),
Steve (Terri), Darrell (Tracy),
Jerry (Jenny), and Joel (Bran-
di). She has many grandchil-
dren and several great grand-
children.
Mary enjoyed her life as a
loggers wife. Th ey also owned
and operated the Stardust Mo-
tel in Curtin for a time. Mary
and Ray retired to their home
on Row River Road. Ray and
her enjoyed their golden years
by helping their children with
renovation projects. She loved
spending time with their large
family, especially her grand-
children.
Mary enjoyed country mu-
sic and liked to sing and yodel.
Some of her favorite activities
include camping, sitting by a
crackling fi re and swimming.
She loved the water, an icy
cold river or a weedy lake. If it
was warm out, she was jump-
ing in. Mom also loved cross-
word puzzles, “Jeopardy” and
“Wheel of Fortune”.
In July, 1973 Mary was bap-
tized as one of Jehovah’s Wit-
nesses and greatly appreciated
the privilege of sharing Bible
truths with others. To learn
and be able to teach the good
news of God’s Kingdom as the
only true salvation for man-
kind brought her great joy and
comfort.
She will be missed by all
that knew her. A “Celebration
of Life” potluck will be held at
her son Darrell’s house on June
19th.
