received unemployment in
2020 and have not yet filed

tions the IRS recently pro-
vided. Most e-file software
providers have indicated
they have the necessary
software updates in place.
Taxpayers should check
with their tax preparer or
software provider if they
have questions about the
updates.
Roberta Duyree Kalbfl eisch age 85, passed away at home in
Cottage Grove with her lov-
ing partner, Jack Hawley at her
side. She is preceded in death
by her son, Gary, and survived
by her daughters Susan and
Katherine, 6 grandchildren and
12 great-grandchildren. A re-
markable woman, she was loved,
admired, and will be missed. Ar-

Janice Mary Wojick, loving
mother, passed away at the
age of 85, on Sunday, April 4,
2021. Janice was born on May
9, 1935 in Dickinson, North
Dakota to Albert and Elizabeth
(Koffl er) Smith. She attended
St. Joseph’s Catholic school in
Dickinson. She raised three
sons, Kurt, Edward and Clint.
Janice had a passion for craft s,
cooking and keeping a tidy
house. She worked for the
Cottage Grove School District
for over twenty years, fi rst as
a lunch lady and then as part
of the custodial staff . She also
loved to be around people, and
her family. She was a member
of Our Lady of Perpetual Help
in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
Janice is survived by her four
children, Kurt (Carolyn),
Edward (Catherine), Clint
(Laura), and Ellen Beazley,
two brothers: Jim (Shirley) of
Grand Forks, ND and Mar-
vin (Desi) of Dickinson; four
sisters: Jeanie Th ompson of
Fargo, ND, Lucille (Neal) Wil-
liams of Darby, MT; Vivian
Trittinger also of Fargo; and
Leila Tucker of Powell, WY,
nine grandchildren and nu-
merous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; two sisters, Mae
Marie Helgerson and Marjorie
Jacobson; and three brothers,
Ronald, Daniel, and Albert
Smith Jr., and very special
friend Mark Th omas.

Paul “Dennis” Hess, 81, of
Drain, Oregon passed away
April 11, 2021. Dennis was
born October 14, 1939 in
Marshfi eld, Oregon to parents
Paul and Sarah (Griffi s) Hess.
He moved to Drain, Oregon
in the 7th grade and gradu-
ated from Drain Union High
School in 1957. Dennis went
on to earn his Master’s at the
University of Oregon in Ge-
ology. He married Sharon A.
Olson September 15, 1961 at
the Drain Methodist Church.
He worked for Shell Oil in New
Orleans and Denver. He also
worked in Denver for an Inde-
pendent oil company BWAB
Exploration. Dennis owned his
own business HMX Petroleum
Exploration and fi nished his
career at Savant Resources re-
tiring in 2015. Dennis enjoyed
fi shing in Oregon, Colorado,
Montana, and Nevada. He es-

Tree Branch and Limb
Pickup is only about a
month away.
With the upcoming
opportunities for great
weather, now is the
time to trim and start
collecting the limbs
and branches to put
out for the city crews
to pick up.
The first round of
the Tree Branch and
Limb Pickup will begin
on May 3.
The Tree Branch and
Limb Pickup is meant
to provide an oppor-
tunity for residents to
trim trees and shrubs
specifically those trees
and shrubs that are lo-
cated along streets and
sidewalks and dispose
of those materials at no
cost.
Trees are supposed
to be trimmed up to
eight feet above side-
walks and over 13 feet
above the street.
Residents are asked
to pay particular atten-
tion to those trees and
their impact on the
sidewalks and streets.
Make sure that no
tree branches block
signs.
In addition to trim-
ming the trees that are
along streets and side-
walks, residents should
feel free to trim all the
other trees and shrubs
on their property.
