10A | DECEMBER 24, 2020 | COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL City of Cottage Grove offering Notary Services to area residents Notarizations have increased significant- ly at City Hall due to COVID-19. The city has three em- ployees who are Notary Publics and normally no- tarize documents for reg- ular city business. How- ever due to COVID-19 businesses in Cottage Grove who normally no- tarize for the public are closed and unable to pro- vide those services. In 2019, the city em- ployees did 180 notari- zations compared to 385 to date this year. The city doesn’t charge for no- tarizing documents for the public, however the notaries do not notarize anything that does not contain the notary block, Last Will and Testaments or anything that requires call 541-942-5501 and to have notarial service a witness. The city will continue make an appointment done. to notarize documents for the public while the other businesses in town are unable to provide the services.
