I started this position just as the state started to shut down. I saw the effects this virus has on our businesses, frustrations that caused division in our community, tragedy that brought the community together and now we are experiencing a holiday season that requires mandatory separation. I have seen how much this community cares for one another when it really counts. I just want to thank everyone for hanging in there. It has not been easy to keep the spirits up. We have partnered with the Harrison School Parent Club offering a Chamber Gift Certifi cate fundraiser. The Chamber Gift Certifi cate is an excellent way to keep the spending dollars local this year. Are you looking for a holiday gift for your employees? A Chamber Gift Certifi cate would be perfect. Thank you to the many who are supporting our small businesses. There have been questions about who is open and what the restrictions are. We are continuing to update the “Shopping During the Freeze” link on our website. Please make sure your business is listed. If not, let us know, we will include your information. Also on our website is a link to the cute videos “Jingle the Elf” has created. Jingle will be in town looking for the perfect gifts at our local businesses through Dec. 23rd. Make sure you check out where Jingle is today. We’re all hungry for different gift ideas. Consider purchasing a ticket for the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce “Wheres the Beef?” Raffl e. The Chamber has purchased 80 lbs of local, grass-fed beef. Get your tickets for $10 each. What a perfect stocking stuffer. We will do a Facebook Live drawing on Jan. 21 st . Happy Holidays. Wishing everyone health and happiness throughout the season and 2021. Be safe, we will get through this. A Special Thank You to Our Ambassadors We would like to recognize all the hard behind the scenes work that our Ambassadors do for the Chamber. We couldn’t do it without you! Ruth Linoz, Jessica Benner, Debbie Chalmers, Alyssa Gomez, Susan Jeppesen, Valerie Nash, and Linda Trombly. Downtown Holiday Tree Lighting Jingle the Elf, Santa, Mrs.Claus and Mayor Jeff Gowing were downtown over the weekend to light the Cottage Grove Christmas Tree. Jingle Don’t Mingle Jingle is here shopping around town with a short message; shop local and shop safe! Go to cgchamber.com and click on the red button for information on local businesses and to see where Jingle has been. (pick one) How it works: Certifi cates are purchased at the Chamber offi ce and can be used at chamber member businesses participating in the program. A list of businesses is attached to the certifi cate(s) Gift certifi cates are treated as cash when presented. Participating businesses then redeem their certifi cates by submitting them to the Chamber offi ce and will be reimbursed for those redeemed. A small handling fee of 5% of the face amount of the certifi cate but not less than $1.00 per certifi cate is taken at the time they are redeemed. Chamber Gift Certifi cate participation is not limited to retail stores. Service oriented businesses should get involved too. Each business will be able to establish restrictions (i.e. Not redeemable for prescriptions, etc.).
