COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL | SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 Oregon Sports HOF announces 2020 inductees The year 2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. To celebrate the mile- stone event, legacy in- ductees will make ap- pearances at this year’s annual induction cere- mony, scheduled for Sept. 26. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s in- duction ceremony will be a virtual event. Instead of the tradi- tional Multnomah Ath- letic Club awards ban- quet, this year’s event will air on KGW TV at 7 p.m., and also be seen on You- Tube, KGW.com and at www.oregonsportshall. org. Jordan Kent is mas- ter of ceremonies, with additional participation by Orlando Sanchez, KGW TV sports anchor. This year’s class in- cludes: Craig Hanneman, multi-sport, John Jaha, baseball, Rockne Freitas, football, Tom Jernstedt, special contribution, and Tiffeny Milbrett, soccer. In addition, Brian Grant will receive the special Commitment to Community award. This year’s student ath- letes are: Gabriel Knox from Harrisburg HS, Les- ly Lujan Lopez from Bea- verton HS, Johnny Marti- nez from David Douglas HS, Taylor Ramirez from Gresham HS, Maxwell Reed from Oregon City HS, and Jillian Rudolf from North Lake HS. There are many new and fun titles, including books about the studies of sharks, honey- bees, grandmas, mysteries, im- possible things, poems about dogs and much more. These books were made pos- sible by the Children’s Book Project grant award from the Pilcrow Foundation and a gen- erous local donation from Steve Coons of Yoncalla. The Yoncalla Library was se- lected to be sponsored through a generous donation from Ms. Tamara Belland of Iowa. The library also received an additional two books from Shout Mouse Press. A bonus of 23 math and sci- ence books were provided by a generous donation from Mr. Hal Berenson and Mrs. Laura Akerman of Colorado.
