COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL | Kindergarten registration set for Creslane March 19 For parents of children who will be age 5 by Sept. 1, 2020, it is time to reg- ister them for Kindergar- ten. Creslane Kindergar- ten Registration will be offered Thursday, March 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. A presentation from the building principals and classroom teachers will begin at 5:30 p.m. while incoming kinder- garteners will visit class- rooms. Following the presen- tation families will have an opportunity to visit informational tables as well as the kindergarten classrooms. This registration event is for incoming kinder- garten student and par- ents. There will not be childcare for other sib- lings. Staff will be available to help with registration paperwork until 7 p.m., during which a Spanish interpreter will be avail- able. To register, the child’s birth certificate, immu- nization records and verification of address is required. It is also possi- ble to register your child at Creslane’s main office any time during normal school hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m) Kindergarten teachers Shawna Bradley, Cheryl Clancey, Debbie Larson and Nastalia Raines have a few suggestions to pre- pare children for school: • Share daily conver- sations about things you see, hear and do. • Visit a variety of plac- es such as the library and parks. • Allow your child to play with clay, crayons, watercolors and scissors. • Help them recognize their name. • Read to them every day. • When your child be- gins attending school, make sure that they get adequate rest, eat well-balanced meals and come dressed to play outdoors every day. MARCH 12, 2020 | 3D Rosie the Riveters to meet again March 13 The next Rosie the Riveter meeting will be held in Springfield on Friday, March 13, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The “Rosies” are women who served our country during World War II, when our coun- try needed them to fill jobs for the men that were at war. The American Rosie the Riveter Association seeks to recognize and preserve the history and legacy of World War II era working wom- en, including volunteer women, and promote fellowship among these women and their de- scendants. All interested people are welcome to attend. Rosie the Riveter meetings are held the second Friday of each month at the Willa- malane Adult Activity Center, 215 W. C St. in Springfield.
