additional duties to keep our Chamber
moving forward every day. Beth goes above
and beyond to make sure our Chamber
functions as best as possible, wearing many
hats, and keeping things going all with a
smile and grace that not many could do.

January had a very busy start as the
Chamber feverishly prepared for the
Annual Dinner, which was a great success.
Although, I do have to admit that Travis
Palmer was greatly missed, at least by me!
If you were unable to attend the annual
dinner, I would like to share again that
the Coast Fork Brewing and Feed Co. won
Business of the Year and Lloyd Williams,
citizen of the year. Congratulations to
both! And a huge thank you to all who
volunteered their time and eff orts in the
planning, preparation, setup and tear down
in the Armory.
Th e Board had chosen last fall to move
their annual retreat to early on in the
year so that new board members may be
a part of the vision and planning for the
upcoming year, instead of having it late in
the year when those members attending
may not be on the board in that next year.
We hope that this will further improve our
Board and the Chamber for its members
and our city overall.
Th e Board is proceeding with its
candidate search for a replacement for
Travis’ position as Executive Director. Th e
position is being renamed to President/
CEO to follow suit with the standard for
that position with other Chambers of
Commerce. Interviews are to be conducted
in early February and it is our goal to have
a new President/CEO in place very soon.

About our Speaker: Robert Killen is a fi ft h
generation Oregonian with a far-reaching
professional history. He has managed for-
profi t and non-profi t organizations. He is
an artist with a talent for branding who
spent seven years as an art director. He
spent another decade in fi nance as a branch
manager and commercial banker, helping
businesses better understand and manage
their resources.
Over the past fi ve years, Robert worked with
the Springfi eld Area Chamber of Commerce
designing and delivering educational
content, building collaborations in support
of local businesses, and consulting on ways
to improve organizational culture.
Robert has recently stepped into the
role of Director of the Lane Small
Business Development Center, where
his team provides low-cost education,
no-cost advising and a suite of
specialized services to support business
growth
throughout
