Sixth and Gibbs Church of Christ welcomes new minister, family
After a year-long search,
Sixth and Gibbs Church of
Christ in Cottage Grove wel-
comed a new senior minis-
ter to its congregation Jan. 5
when Tim Baker began his
new ministry at the church.
Baker was born and raised
in Massachusetts. His initial
plan in life was to become
a doctor, but after receiving
his bachelor’s in biology, he
said he felt like he was being
led into ministry.

ilton, Mass., and received
his Master of Divinity. Over
the last 12-plus years, he has
served in churches all over
the United States, including
Alaska, Pennsylvania and
Texas before moving to Cot-
tage Grove.
Baker is married to Amy,
a proud Texan and virtual
fourth-grade math teach-
er. They will be celebrating
their 10th wedding anniver-
sary in March and have two
children: their son Gabe and
daughter Jordan.
Baker hopes to be a bless-
ing to the community of
Cottage Grove, which he and
his family now call home.
He said they have met many
welcoming and friendly faces
over this first month and that
he looks forward to having it
continue as he and his family
get acclimated to the area.
Baker hopes to have the
opportunity to build rela-
tionships with people and
community leaders, as well
as assist with continuing the
city’s longstanding reputa-
tion of being a great place to
live.
City of CG hosting tree giveaway
Cottage Grove’s mainte-
nance crew picked up 60
young Redwood and 25
Ponderosa Pine trees last
month that were gifted
from the City of Eugene.
The crew is picking up a
mix of 300 additional trees:
Vine Maples, White Alder,
Douglas Fir, Western Cra-
bapple, Oregon White Oak, that live in the city limits
