For the second time since its in-
ception, local radio station KNND
has found a new home in Cottage
Grove.
The move marks a deeper im-
print for the station in the city,
one which has already met the test
of time as the station has long re-
tained local appeal.
“Most radio stations, you listen
to them and they’re either getting
syndicated programming from
across the country or it’s all just
canned stuff,” said station owner
Cameron Reiten. “But here, we
have live programming seven days
a week.”
While the station began broad-
casting from the new location
at 717 E Main Street early last
month, the full process of moving
in was completed in the following
weeks.
First broadcasting in 1953 from
the rodeo grounds on Highway
99 under the callsign KCTG, the
station later moved downtown
around 1975 to 321 E Main Street,
where it had stayed until recently.
“It was a good arrangement over
the years. It worked out well,” said

mobilized
last month when a Lane
County woman pub-
licly requested help to
deal with a population
of nearly 400 cats on a
property between Veneta
and Eugene.
Two weeks prior, the
property’s elderly own-
er had been admitted
to the hospital, leaving
her
daughter-in-law,
KaSandra Riley, to fi nd
a way to care for the an-
imals.
In answer to the call,
the community rallied
to take on the monstrous
task of caring for the col-
ony of felines, bringing
in food and water and
providing Riley with ad-
visement.
As of the beginning of
this month, only a few
cats had reportedly been
removed as a handful of
volunteers continue man-
aging the cat crisis by
providing nourishment
and medical attention.
As many of the cats are
feral, they are not being
accepted by animal shel-
ters.

In a bid to expand on its already
vibrant youth community of gamers
and tech-oriented clientele, local
game store Delight is launching an
“afterschool enrichment program”
designed to explore the intersection
of education and play.
Therese Nguyen, co-owner of De-
light, is partially modeling the pro-

and creators. You try things and
they don’t work and you keep try-

and learning is. And we can wrap
around other projects that use that
sort of methodology. So it’s very
hands-on.”

Nguyen had previously worked
for the nonprofit United Way.
“I really love the idea of commu-
nity and that whole United Way and
working together with youth was
something I cared about,” she said.
Nguyen’s interest in gaming led
the store to explore new avenues of
community exchange.
