Fire Chief John Wooten (right). Branstetter and Dumas were recognized for putting themselves at
extreme personal risk by slowing a fire’s advance, thus rescuing a trapped civilian during a structure
fire on Adams Avenue on June 6, 2018. “We don’t encourage folks to just run into burning buildings,”
said Wooten, “but in this case I’ll say that that decision was swift and decisive and had a definite
impact on the survival of that victim.”

The Science Pub pre-
sentation begins at 6 p.m.
CFWWC receives 10 per-

evening between 5 and
7:30 p.m.
The event is free to the
public, with a $5 dona-
tion suggested.
