Lane Electric Cooper-
ative off ers several schol-
arships to members of all
ages, from high school se-
niors to adults who desire
continuing education. Be-
low are details about each
off ering. For all scholar-
ships,  a  qualifying mem-
ber or family member  is
defi ned as: A Lane Electric
member, or dependent
of a member, who has an
active account, and is in
good standing with Lane
Electric Cooperative.
Applications are due to
Lane Electric’s offi ce no
later than 1 p.m. on Th urs-
day, April 4.

for a Graduating Senior
interested in attending
Lane Community College
(LCC) in the fall.

Lane Electric off ers four
$1,500 “College of Your
Choice” scholarships for
persons interested in at-
tending any accredited
2-year or 4-year college in
the fall. Th e spirit and in-
tent of this scholarship is
to provide an opportunity
for eligible Lane Electric
members, or their depen-
dents, who are interested
in beginning a college ca-
reer.
Member At-Large
persons interested in at-
tending Lane Community
College (LCC) in the fall.
Th e spirit and intent of
this scholarship is to pro-
vide an opportunity for el-
igible Lane Electric mem-
bers who have been in the
workplace for a period of
time; members whose jobs
have ended; members in-
terested in changing ca-
reers; or for parents who
have raised their children
and are now ready to be-
gin a college career, etc.
VOLTA (Vocational
Outdoor Line Training
Academy)

TA  scholarship program

and /or applicants whose
parent or guardian are
active members, in good

be a at least 18 years old, at
the time of enrollment in
the  VOLTA  program, and
be a high school graduate
by summer of 2019 or
hold a GED.

Opal Theater to host wide range of events in April
Come see Trek Theater’s
Winter show, “Space Seed,”
for a one-show-only Cottage
Grove engagement. The En-
terprise Crew encounters a
sleeper ship adrift in space
containing in suspended an-
imation, survivors of the Eu-
genics Wars and meet Khan
Noonian Singh. Admission
is free, but donations are wel-
come.  
The performance will be
Sunday, April 7, beginning at
5 p.m.
On Friday and Sunday,
April 12 and 14, in a co-pro-
duction with Academy Arts
and Academics, “Opal—The
Journey of the Understanding
Heart” features young adults
and how they might react the
100-year-old story of Opal.
The play weaves between
scenes in a school classroom
and the world of Opal.  Us-
ing imagination, projections,
music, dance, masks and
storytelling, the play covers
the highs and lows of her life
while letting the audience ex-
perience her relationship to
nature: “the fairyland around
us.”
The April 12 performance
is at 7:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m.
matinee on April 14. Cost is
$12 for adults and $10 for stu-
dents and children.
April 19-20, the Trashion
Show: Junk, Gunk, Fashion
Punk will take place at the
Opal Theater. Trashion  (a
portmanteau of “trash” and
“fashion”) is a term for art,
fashion and objects for the
home created from used,
thrown-out, found and repur-
posed elements. Ten amazing
designers will dazzle visitors
with their creations. Come
April 19 at 7 p.m., or April 20
at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m.
Admission is $12 and tick-
ets can be purchased via the
Opal website at opalcentercg.
org/events/2019-trashion-
show-junk-gunk-fashion-
funk, or at The Crafty Mer-
cantile, 517 East Main Street.

hosting coffee and con-
versation on the topic of
Family Caregiving and
