body we put on the floor,” said
Eastburn. Adding, “We’re always
fine, especially playing like we
are now. So, I’m confident all our
kids can rotate. Everybody has a
role and sometimes the role is to
step up when a teammate gets
hurt and go take their place.”
One of the key players step-
ping up was Cottage Grove’s
Matty Ladd. Ladd, a constant
and consistent force for the Li-
ons all season, took over the
offensive role as she recorded
a team-high 18 points on the
night.
“People probably don’t know
but she’s always solid. Very con-
sistent, very unsung. Just a great
team player and a great team-
mate. Can’t say enough about
that kid,” said Eastburn about
Ladd.
Late in the first quarter, the
Lions had a one-point advantage
before they rattled off a 22-3 run
that stretched into the third
quarter. By the fourth quarter

Ladd was heavily contributing
on both ends of the floor getting
blocks, rebounds and helping
her team run away with the win.
“Us posts and talls really have
to step up because (Reilly) is
definitely is big part of our team
and gets all the blocks and all
the points so it’s definitely a lot
of pressure but we all work to-
gether really well,” Ladd said
after the game. Adding, “I think
we did pretty good. We all kept
our heads in the game and just
tried not to think about it and
just focused on the game.”
Elmira’s Sydney Greene fin-
ished the game with 11 points
while Carly Grossmiller added
10 for the Falcons.

hung around – thanks to out-
rebounding the Warriors 33-
28 on the night – and tried to
make a run late as they cut their
deficit to seven after a Carnes
three-pointer with just under
four minutes to play. The War-
riors finished on an 8-3 run to
seal the win.
North Douglas will now re-
ceive a first round bye in the
Skyline league tournament. The
team will play on Friday night in
Marshfield.
The Elks will travel to Camas
Valley (10-11, 6-5) on Tuesday
night to face the Hornets. Ear-
lier this season, Elkton defeated
Camas Valley 39-26. Camas Val-
ley defeated North Douglas 21-
18 this year.
“I want to beat Camas. I think
we’re a better team,” said Park-
er. “We’ve just got to play our
game. It is a tough place to play,
though. We’ve got to knock all
that out and play hard.”

did a great job of that tonight.”
The Warriors finished
fourth in the Skyline regu-
lar season and third in the
North Division. Because they
are third, that means they
will travel to the second place
team in the South Division in
Pacific on Wednesday night at
6 p.m. The Pirates (10-12, 6-6)
finished fifth overall in the
league standings and the War-
riors defeated them earlier this
season 50-22.
“By no means will that be
an easy game. We know that
they’ve got a lot better and
from what we heard they’ve
cleaned up a lot of things,”
said Parks. “So we know that
as long as we play well, this
should be a good battle for us
and should be a good matchup
as a game.”
After one quarter of play,
North Douglas (15-9, 10-3
Skyline) and Elkton (5-19,
2-11) were locked in a close
game.
“Elkton always comes ready
to play and it makes me ner-
vous because they always want
to beat us,” said North Doug-
las head coach Tyler Vancil
who saw his team holding a
12-8 lead after the first quar-
ter. “And their team can shoot
really well from three. So I told
the boys, ‘Don’t overlook them
just because we beat them by
20 or 30 last time, they’re go-
ing to come ready to play.’”
But then the Warriors
went off as they paired
poor shooting with great
