• Two females were re-
ported lying in the middle
of Main Street taking self-
ies. Upon standing up, they
appeared intoxicated and
walked off down the middle
of the road.
• A trailer was reported
as plugged into a house and
parked on Harrison Street
for a week. Th e occupants
had been seen on the com-
plainants front yard at night
with fl ashlights.
Jan. 28
• A complainant reported
being hit on the right side
of his face aft er entering a
restaurant. Video record-
ing indicated no altercation.
Employees said that the
complainant already had a
facial injury before entering
the restaurant.
• A woman reported to
an offi cer at the scene that
she had hit her daughter on
the head so the police would
come and keep her company.
Jan. 29
• An RV which appeared
to be broken down and
abandoned near All America
Park reportedly was leaking
liquid that smelled like urine.
Th e occupant had previously
been reported urinating on
the park’s bathroom doors.
Jan. 30
• A male subject was re-
ported picking up a TV at
Walmart and leaving with it
through the fi re door.
Jan. 31
• An individual barricad-
ed themselves in a Walmart
bathroom and would not
come out. Th ey had report-
edly been there for 30 min-
utes and were not respond-
ing.
• An intoxicated subject
was seen stumbling out of
a bar, riding their bike to a
store and buying a 24-pack
of beer. Th e subject was is-
sued a DUII.
Feb. 1
• Juveniles on dirt bikes
at the riverbank near Van
Buren were reported out of
concern for their safety.
• An intoxicated woman
reportedly called a store on
Hwy 99 and said she had
left her “red cup and bag
of meth” somewhere in the
store. An extensive search of
the store produced no con-
traband.
Feb. 2
• A complainant claimed
harassment by employees at
the Quality Inn. Offi cers de-
termined no crime was com-
mitted.
Feb. 3
• An intoxicated male was
reported trying to leave the
ER. He was given a courtesy
ride back to his residence.
• A complainant reported

Eunice Chandler
1933-2019
Eunice Chandler, 85, of Yoncalla,
Oregon passed on January 30, 2019.
She was born on August 22, 1933, in
Yoncalla to Clarence and Edna (Seh-
lin) Wilson. She married John Simons
in 1952 and Jay Chandler on Novem-
ber 4, 1971. She graduated from Yon-
calla High School in 1950 and later
earned her Bachelor of Science from Umpqua Community Col-
lege for Forestry in the 70’s. She worked for the Forest Service
for several years, was a short order cook and a homemaker. She
enjoyed gardening, hiking, painting and drawing. Eunice was
known as “Grandmother to the World”, with a warm and loving
heart. She is survived by daughters, Merri Simons, Neeta Si-
mons, Emma Simons, and Carrie Blackman, all of Yoncalla; Bil-
lie Weight of Williston, ND; son, Edd Simons of Battlemountain,
NV; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 19 great-
great grandchildren. Eunice was preceded in death by spouse,
Jay Chandler and daughter, Abbie L. Morgan. Arrangements by
Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove, OR.
Jeannettie Dean Howard
June 8, 1932 - January 25, 2019
Jeannettie was born June 8, 1932 in
Menard, Texas and was the 9th of 10 chil-
dren. She married Lonnie Howard on
June 3, 1950 in Bayard, New Mexico. Lon-
nie preceded her in death in 2007. Th ey
had three children, Paul Howard (wife
Dorothy) of Cottage Grove, Janet Yearous
(husband Paul) of Cottage Grove and Ray
Howard (wife Marketa) of Prineville. Th ey were also blessed
with 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Nettie retired in 1995 from Klamath County School District
where she worked as a bus driver and also in the school cafeteria.
Th ey moved to Cox Creek Road in Yoncalla where they lived
until Lonnie’s death. She moved into Magnolia Gardens shortly
aft erwards where she lived the last 9 years of her life. She very
seldom missed a bingo game and spent her other free time read-
ing and doing word search puzzles along with bible studies.
She was an avid craft er. She loved sewing, knitting and cro-
chet as well as other numerous craft projects. She and Lonnie
were very active in several black powder clubs. Th ey spent much
of their free time at black powder rendezvous camps competing
in shoots. Nettie made all their costumes which were authentic
dress for the time period. She was a very good shot as well, tak-
ing home many fi rst place trophies.
A Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Friday, Feb-
ruary 8, 2019 at Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel, 123 S. 7th
St., Cottage Grove, OR 97424. A Graveside service will be held,
February 9, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Yoncalla Applegate Cemetery,
Yoncalla, OR. Arrangements in the care of Smith Lund Mills.

bar. Upon arrival, the offi cer
found the bar still open and
noise minimal.
• An intoxicated subject
was reported on front of a
store on Main Street holding
a bottle of beer and being
verbally disorderly toward
patrons and passers-by.
• A black and white cock-
er spaniel with a rope dan-
gling from its collar was cap-
tured aft er running loose on
Th ornton Road.
• Th eft was reported at
Walmart aft er an individual
walked out of the store car-
rying beer.
• A suspicious individu-
al was reported passed out
in their vehicle at Walmart
with the headlights on,
trunk open and a dog in the
back. Th e individual said
they were suff ering from
drug withdrawal and needed
a nap. Th ey refused medi-
cation. Th e individual later
entered Walmart, fi lled their
basket, but bought nothing
and returned to their car to
pass out. A courtesy ride was
fi nally accepted by the indi-
vidual.
• Th e sound of screaming
and a chainsaw was reported
coming from the Row River.
Th e complainant was unwill-
ing to give any personal in-
formation.
Rick Mason
1982-2019
Mason-Lawrence, Rick Jennings, aged
36 years. Born in Sacramento, CA Feb. 16,
1982, died Jan. 21, 2019. Rick was known
in his schooldays also as Rick Lawrence.
Loving father to Blaine and Bella, hus-
band to Michelle. Beloved son of Barbara
Lawrence, Craig Lawrence, and Robert C. Mason, deceased.
Beloved brother of Sheila Zuvich and Ryan Lawrence. Loving
uncle and cousin to many. Besides being a student at Bohemia,
Lincoln Middle School, and Cottage Grove High School, Rick
also played for and coached teams with the Cottage Grove Rec-
reation Department. Rick was raised in Cottage Grove, OR,
moved back to Sacramento in 1999, amassing friends all over.
Rick was known for his love of the Raiders, Cars, Rock and
Metal music, but mostly his kids. He had the biggest smile,
broadest shoulders, and most loving heart. His gentle spirit will
be dearly missed by all who knew him. Please join us in a Cele-

Albert “Al” Dalton of Cottage Grove passed away January 29,
2019. Albert was born August 23, 1958 in Maywood, CA to Al
and Aubrey Dalton (Garner).
Albert married Peggy Westbrook on July 2, 1979 in Reno, NV
and later divorced.
Albert worked for NAPA Auto Parts in Cottage Grove, Oregon

Lucille Sexton
1921-2019
Lucille Sexton, 97, of Cottage Grove,
OR, died January 30, 2019. She was
born October 30, 1921 in Murphy,
North Carolina, to parents William
and Caroline (Marcus) Hass. Lucille
married Clarence Sexton in November
1939. Th ey were married for 40 years.
She was a life-long homemaker who proudly earned her GED
later in life. Lucille was a faithful Baptist. She loved gardening,
sewing, crocheting, and was an avid reader. She is survived by
daughter, Sandra Dulley of Pleasant Hill, OR; son, Charles “Bud”
Sexton (Sheryl) of Cottage Grove, OR; son-in-law, Harold Miller
of Pleasant Hill, OR; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and
1 great-great grandchild. Lucille was preceded in death by her
husband, Clarence Sexton (1980) and daughter, Charlotte Miller
(2015). A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednes-
day, February 6, 2019 at Walker Cemetery, on England Rd., in
Walker, OR. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills
Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove, OR.
Andrzej Wieckowski
1945-2019
Andrzej Wieckowski, age 73, passed
away on January 31, 2019 in Eugene, OR
as a result of Progressive Supranuclear
Palsy. Andrzej was born on February
22, 1945 in Lodz, Poland to Witold and
Halina (Motylewska) Wieckowscy.
Andrzej attended Warsaw University
in Poland and received his PhD and
DSC. He would go on to become a Professor of Chemistry at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as an editor
for Electrochimica Acta. Andrzej was a leader in the Solidarity
movement in the chemistry department at Warsaw University.
On August 3, 1967 Andrzej married Teresa Prussak, and
together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage. In his spare time
Andrzej enjoyed jazz music, dancing, sports, movies, and
reading.
Andrzej is survived by his wife Teresa Prussak-Wieckowska
of Eugene, OR; his daughter Zuzanna Wieckowska (Taylor
Wilhour) of Cottage Grove, OR; and 3 grandchildren.
A service will be announced at a later time. Andrzej will
be laid to rest in Warsaw, Poland. In lieu of fl owers memorial
contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at
www.parkinson.org. Arrangements are in the care of Sunset
Hills Funeral Home in Eugene, OR.
Jill Harwood, 69, of Cottage Grove,
Oregon, passed on January 31, 2019.
She was born in Harrisburg, Pennsyl-
vania, on March 28, 1949, to parents
Moses and Diane (Laks) Sirotkin. Jill
married Allen Harwood on October 20,
1970 in North Bend, Oregon. She sang
in Glee Club, graduated in 1967 and
went on to earn a BA in social work. Jill
worked many years as an advocate of the people, helping others
with resources in a non-profi t setting and in recent years, she
taught beginning Hebrew, education of the Jewish religion, and
was proud of her Jewish heritage. She loved singing with Up
With People folk band, reading (the entire bible once a year) and
watching life time movies. She was a member of the Messian-
ic Community and the Cottage Grove Seventh Day Adventist
Church. Jill is survived by her loving husband, Allen; daughter,
Rocio Harwood of Cottage Grove; son, Jon and wife Sandra
Harwood of Christmas Valley, OR; sister, Lynn Schlow of State
College, PA; and 10 grandchildren. A graveside service was
held at the Silk Creek Cemetery in Cottage Grove, on Monday,
February 4 th at 2:00 pm with a memorial service being held on
Saturday, February 9 th at 2:00 pm at the Cottage Grove Seventh
Day Adventist Church. Arrangements are in the care of Smith-
Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove, OR.
Florence
Elisabeth Olson Garrison
1910-2019
Born December 18 th , 1910. Birth was
at her grandmother’s farm in Riverview,
about 5 miles from Junction City, Oregon.
Florence lost her dad to a car wreck at
age 3. Her grandfather passed from a heart
attack when she was 12. Florence grew up
on her grandmother’s farm and was driving a fl atbed Model A truck
delivering produce to as far west at Triangle Lake from the Junction
City farm, at ag 16.
She met her husband when he hired in on the farm. Together they
raised 2 children, a daughter Janice Zustiak, and a son Norman Gar-
rison. She has 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several
great-great-grandchildren.
Always a hard worker she helped her husband fall small timber
the old fashioned way, using a 2 man hand falling saw. She also
worked in a box factory with several other women in the late 40’s
to early 50’s. Florence also served on the school board for a number
of years.
She liked to trout fi sh in streams and caught many. She also liked
to deer hunt and killed several nice bucks, using a .270 caliber rifl e.
Florence liked to sit and watch the ocean waves. She and her
husband bought a piece of property 5 miles from Yachats and put a
40’ trailer on the property. They spent may weekends and vacations
enjoying the property. After the age of 100 Florence said her body
would no longer let her go to the coast.
Her great-grandmother was the fi rst person to teach school in
Lane County. Her great grandmother came to Oregon by covered
wagon at the age of 14. Her parents were the Blachly’s that the town
is named after.
Her grandmother was known by many. The Eugene Hotel would
bring many of their hotel guests out to the farm for banquet dinners.
They were all served banquet style, with lots of farm fresh food on
the table.
