Travis Palmer,

Director’s Note
Th ank you for joining us as the Cottage Grove
Christmas Kickoff ! We hope you enjoyed at
least some of the many events that took place
throughout the day. Th ere was a pancake breakfast
with Santa at the South Lane County Fire Station,
the Jingle Bell 5k Run/Walk, the South Valley
Holiday Farmer’s Market in the Armory, the
tree lighting ceremony at All America Square,
a scavenger hunt in the Historic District, lots of
shopping and store specials at local businesses, a
block party with hayrides & caroling, Dr. Snapp’s
Holiday House Bazaar, a stained glass display
at the Cottage Grove Museum and of course…
Pictures with Santa at City Hall. Th is special day
of events signifi es the start of a wonderful time
of year in Cottage Grove. If you were not able
participate this year, we hope you’ll put the fi rst
Saturday of December on your calendar for next
year’s Christmas kickoff .
Continuing throughout the month, there are
several businesses that will stay open late and
have specials leading up to Christmas so there’s
no reason not to shop local and support the many
great businesses right here in Cottage Grove. Th e
Village Green has a huge holiday light display with
nightly food and entertainment specials and Th e
Cottage Grove Sentinel will host the last Business
Aft er Hours of the year with a fun Christmas
theme. If you know of other events happening in
the area, be sure to submit them to the Chamber’s
Community Events Calendar on our website so
we can help promote them.
Over the next few weeks, we at the Chamber
hope that all of our local businesses will continue
to be creative and come up with fun and innovative
ways to put themselves in front of their target
audience. We encourage businesses to decorate
their stores inside and out, with seasonal displays.
Use both traditional and social media to attract
new and returning customers. Hand out coupons
and fl yers that encourage customers to come
back in the near future. Make up silly games and
contests that engage your customers and make
them remember your store. Th ink about the
experience you want your customers to take with
them aft er they have visited your business and the
story that you want them to tell their friends and
family about the great time they had in Cottage
Grove during the holidays.
Th e Cottage Grove Christmas Kickoff
continues to be one of our town’s best signature
events. Th ere are as many opportunities for a
businesses to participate as your imagination can
come up with. Most importantly though, it’s an
opportunity to bring the community together
to share, laugh, visit, give thanks, reminisce and
celebrate whatever is important to each of us at
this time of year. On behalf of the Cottage Grove
Area Chamber of Commerce, we sincerely hope
you have a safe and happy holiday season and we
wish you the best in the coming New Year!
