Invitational at Philomath High
School, the Lions fi nished in
sixth place of the 12 teams com-
peting. Leading the way for the
Lions was junior Jimmy Talley
who took sixth place in a time
of 17:27. Paesen Timm took
11th in a time of 17:50. Konrad
Raum (18:55, 34th place), Jaden
Th uesen (19:53, 52nd place)
and Justin Francis (20:38, 59th
place) were Cottage Grove’s
point scorers.

Country
At Saturday’s meet, the girls
team fi nished third of the seven
teams competing. Th e fi rst Cot-
tage Grove fi nisher was sopho-
more Annah Nyburg who took
sixth place in a time of 20:32.
Evie Smith (22:16) and Eternity
Reimche (22:45) claimed 23rd
and 25th place respectively.
Kenzie Parsons (24:04) and Na-
dia Witt (24:28) took 38th and
39th place for the Lions.
Cottage Grove Volleyball (13-
3, 6-1 Sky-Em)
Aft er defeating Siuslaw in
straight sets at home on Tues-
day, the Lions fell on the road to
Marshfi eld 1-3; the team’s fi rst
loss in league play this season.
Cottage Grove dropped to #3
in the 4A rankings while stay-
ing the top-ranked team in the
coaches’ poll.

Th e Warriors defeated the Ea-
gles 30-28 at home last Friday.
Aft er a 22 point second quarter
that put North Douglas up 30-
14 at the half, the Eagles made
things close in second the half
behind a 14-point fourth quar-
ter. Th e Warriors came up with
the play of the game on a Yon-
calla two-point conversion with
less than a minute to play that
would have tied the game.
Cal Parks had two touch-
downs for the Warriors and
Dominic Aguilar had a pair of
scores for the Eagles.
North Douglas Volleyball
(21-5, 11-0 Skyline)

cruise through league
play with a pair of
sweeps over New Hope
Christian and UVC.
Elkton
Volleyball
(11-7, 6-6 Skyline)
Th e Elks fell to Days
Creek 0-3 on Tuesday
and defeated Riddle
3-0 on Th ursday.
