CGPD, FBI seek information on attempted bank robbery
Th e Cottage Grove Police
Department and the FBI are
asking for the public’s help af-
ter a man attempted to rob the
Wells Fargo Bank branch inside
Safeway in Cottage Grove on
the aft ernoon of Monday, Sept.
16.
Th e incident occurred at ap-
proximately 4:40 p.m. Accord-
ing to a statement re-leased by
the FBI, a man approached the
teller desk and demanded cash.
A bank employee triggered the
alarm.
Th e suspect left the location
before authorities arrived.
Th e man is described as
being in his mid-to-late 30s,
approximately 6 feet tall with

Stolen mail delivery vehicle found;
other items still missing
On Sept. 20, at 7:40 a.m.,
the Lane County Sheriff ’s Of-
fi ce (LCSO) received a report
of a vehicle stolen from the
parking lot of the Creswell
Post Offi ce.
Th e vehicle, a white Sub-
aru Legacy used for deliver-
ing mail, was found later that
morning in the Cottage Grove
area.

LCSO is asking community
members to be on the lookout
for any rural mail vehicles or
carriers they are not familiar
with, and to report suspicious
behavior such as the removal
of mail from multiple mail-

Roger Gary Crawford
1945-2018
The man. The myth. The legend....Roger
Gary Crawford 72 passed away at home in
Yoncalla, Oregon August 8, 2018.
Roger was born November 15, 1945
in Clovis, California to Oliver and Mary
Crawford.
Roger was married to his last and forever
love Alice Crawford. Loving father of
Ryan and Paul Crawford and step father of Larry R Turvey JR.
Roger Crawford was a hard worker and a family man. He
served in the National Guard. Roger also served on the Yoncalla
City Council. Roger loved his family, enjoy dancing, going for
mountain drives and, hunting with his dad and brother.
Roger is survived by his sons Ryan Crawford Paul Crawford
and step son Larry Turvey JR ;his borther Don Crawford and
sisters Kathy Van Matre and 3 grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Mary
Crawford, sister Joan Brown and his beloved wife Alice Crawford

Gorden Harry Patten
1933-2018
Gorden Harry Patten, 85 of Adair Village,
Oregon passed away September 20, 2018. He
was born June 24, 1933, in Cottage Grove,
Oregon to Harry and Ruth Mainwaring Pat-
ten. Gorden graduated from Blue Mountain
Elementary School and from Cottage Grove
High School in 1951. Three years after high school Gorden
became a Christian under the infl uence of the Cottage Grove
Church of Christ. Shortly after he was drafted into the U.S.
Army and was sent to Korea just at the close of the war. After
leaving the Army he enrolled in San Jose Bible College where
he met and married Sharon Collver of Eugene. They graduated
together in 1960 and then began their family, preparing to return
to Korea as Missionaries. In Korea they brought up their four
daughters and were involved in teaching, preaching, literature
publication and prison evangelism. After spending 30 years in
Korea, Gorden continued to make mission trips to Korea and
China. In 1995, Gorden began his 13 ministry in The Falls City
Christian Church in Polk County, Oregon. Gorden and Sharon
have spent their retirement years living in Adair Village, OR.
Gorden was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest daugh-
ter Becky, two brothers, James and Paul Patten. A funeral will
be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday September 26, 2018 at the
Church of Christ, 6 th and Gibbs, Cottage Grove, OR followed by
burial at Brumbaugh Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-
Mills Funeral Chapel, 123 S. 7 th St., Cottage Grove, OR 97424.
