Lavona enjoyed traveling the

like bowling, painting, quilting,
and loved spending time with
her children and grandchildren.
Lavona had a beautiful voice
and liked to sing. She is sur-
vived by daughter, Donna Mill-
er (Richard) of Cottage Grove,
OR; son Gerald Hollis (Marla)
of Bend, OR; son Joseph Wol-
fard (Suk) of S. Korea; daugh-
ter, Marlee Richardson (Da-
vid), Veneta, OR; Stepsons, Jon,
Neil, Craig, Dana Duerst; step-
daughters, Kathy Berger, Ann
Robinson; 22 grandchildren,
16 great-grandchildren and
seven
great-great-grandchil-
dren. She is preceded in death
by son, James Curtis Wolfard,
grandson, Scott Edward Bangle
and great-granddaughter Sam-
my Jo Bangle. A visitation was

great-grandchildren. Grace was
preceded in death by her hus-
band and son Richard Hansen.

Grove, OR; mother and father,
Ellen and Danny Shaw, Cottage
Grove, OR; sisters, Jenny Davis,
Cottage Grove, OR; Danielle
Howard, N. Bend, OR; Jessica
Shaw, Cottage Grove, OR; and
two grandchildren. A memori-
al service and potluck reception
will be held at the Hope Fellow-
ship Church in Cottage Grove,
OR. on Sunday, August 12, at 5
p.m. Arrangements in the care

She was a
Coast Guard wife and a light
house keeper at Destruction
Island, WA and a homemak-
er. Grace traveled to France,
Germany, Switzerland and en-
joyed cruises with friends. She
enjoyed sewing, cross stitch,
quilting, hosting exchange stu-
dents, gardening and canning
all that she could from her large
garden. Grace was extremely
happy to have an April Fool’s
birthday. She married Gerald
W. Hansen on October 18, 1957,
in Seattle, WA. She is survived
by her daughter Lorraine (Bruce
Quigley) Landis, son Stephen
(Suzanne) Hansen both of Cot-
tage Grove, OR, daughter Su-
zanne (Kenneth) Johnson, La

• A theft was reported on Pennoyer Ave. aft er a drill box that
was valued at $300 was taken from the back of a truck.
• A man with no shirt on Hwy. 99 was seen throwing rocks
and picking and then subsequently dropping large logs used
for parking.
• A man on Hwy. 99 was seen “acting oddly” and had set his
shirt on fi re while holding it in his hand. Offi cers contact-
ed the involved subject and took him to custody for reckless
burning and off ensive littering.
• A female driver at a drive-up on Main St. had slurred speech
and bumped a vehicle in front of her in line.
August 1
• Th e Public Works department alerted police of a male sub-
ject passed out on the concrete slab near the river.
• A woman on Shoreview Dr. reported that her son stole a large
amount of money from her and punched the side of her car.
• Multiple subjects were seen fi ghting in front of a store on 5th
St. One subject was armed with a fi rearm.
August 5
• An individual reported fi nding a cigarette pack containing
what appears to be crystal meth.
• A man on 1st St. reported that a quarter tank of gas was sto-
len from his vehicle overnight.

tion Coordinating Commission
approved the program August 2.
Lane assessed industry need
and won enthusiastic support
from the local community to
promote the safe, responsible
and licensed use of UAS technol-
ogy. Several area high schools,
including Creswell, South Eu-
gene, West Lane Tech and oth-
ers, expressed a keen interest in
partnering with Lane, says LCC
Division Dean Pat O’Connor.

COLEMAN- Robert (Bob-
by) D. Coleman, Jr. of Cottage
Grove, died on July 30 of cancer.
He was 72.
He was born in Worcester,
MA on Jan. 1, 1946, to parents
Robert Coleman, Sr. and Alice
(Baird) Suski. He graduated
from Tantasqua Regional High
School. He served with the Ma-
rines, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines
during the Vietnam War. Bob-
by worked for over 30 years in
the Aerospace industry until his
retirement. He enjoyed fi sh-
ing, and especially enjoyed his
family. He earned the Vietnam
Service medal, the National De-
fense Service medal, the Viet-
nam Cross of Gallantry with
Palm Frond, a Combat Action
Ribbon and a Purple Heart.
Bobby married Sharon Arellano
on June 15, 1968 in Antioch, CA.
He later married Janis Shan-
dley on July 2, 1983 in Mesa,
AZ, who later died. He is sur-
vived by his spouse, Lou Anne
Coleman of Cottage Grove;
daughter, Priscilla Hughes;
sons, Mike Bobince,and Jeff rey
Coleman; daughters, Shanna
Vaux, Michelle Garcia and Pa-
mela Harris; sisters, Patty Corey
and Anne Robertson, both of
