Animal House Parade
Downtown Cottage Grove was the location of the Animal House homecoming parade scene. 40 years
later we’re having another parade and would love for you to join in the fun! Th ere are no entry fees
we just want to have FUN! Parade applications are available at the Cottage Grove Area Chamber
of Commerce or you can fi nd it at www. animalhousetoga.com. Complete your form and email
to: AnimalHouseParade@mail.com. NOT gmail.com.
Parade theme: Animal House movie, 1960’s era and older vehicles, fl oats representing your business
or organization with a Greek fraternity/sorority twist. Every fl oat or entry shall pertain to the movie
in some way (Togas, music, decoration, etc.) Th e parade is a family friendly and politically neutral
event.
August Concerts in the Park
In addition to weekly entertainment throughout the summer local vendors gather to off er a variety
of food, craft , and other items. Market hours are from 5pm – 8pm. Concerts begin at 6:30pm. Bring
a friend and support your local vendors, musicians and their sponsors by attending the Wednesday
evening activities. Th ese concerts are made possible with fi nancial support through sponsorships so
join us and take a moment and thank them.

August 8 - Blue Skies Big Band
One of the premier dance bands in the Pacifi c Northwest, Blue Skies 17 piece band brings back the
smooth big band sound that has become the band’s trademark. Come out to dance, or just to enjoy the
great music of the big band era!

Come relax- enjoy- and be part of a fun energy fi lled performance...Th e band’s love of music is
contagious and guaranteed to make you smile. Th e Annie Mae Rhodes Band is one of Cottage Grove’s
local long time bands that enjoy giving back to our community the gift of music by being a part of
many of our local Benefi t events such as,- Habitat for Humanity -Humane Society-SLMH-Relay for
Life-to name a few and of course our own Hometown Happenings-Bohemia Days -WOE- Concert
in the Park-and many others...A great mixture of Bluegrass-Country, a few oldies thrown in once in
a while, gospel, and Originals by Annie Mae. Plus their very own little ray of Sunshine Miss Clara
Lynn..So come and be part of a great evening of music and fun..

Th e special agents who comprise THE MEN FROM S.U.R.F. (Secret Underground Retro Fraternity)
are four seasoned musicians who’s mission it is to preserve and promote the uniquely American
musical art forms known as “surf ” and “hot rod”! From classic instrumentals by the likes of Dick
Dale, Th e Chantays, Th e Ventures and Los Straitjackets; to vocal hits by Th e Beach Boys, Jan & Dean
and others, THE MEN FROM S.U.R.F. provide a musical vacation to a fantasyland of sun, surf, sand,
drag strips and drive-ins! So we invite you dig your aloha wear out of the closet, grab your shades and
beach chairs, and join Special Agents Beat, Rock, Th under and Smart for a “fun in the sun” evening of
musical memories that you won’t soon forget!

August 29 - Gabe Schliff er and the Sugar Pine String Band
From their home base in Eugene, OR, Th e Sugar Pine String Band mixes traditional bluegrass with
old-time and original Americana music. Sit back relax and listen to the sweet acoustic tones of the
dobro, mandolin, upright bass, guitar and fi ddle.
Recently transplanted from the hills of western New York, Gabe Schliff er has been playing cello
since the age of four, and writing music since 2007. He has been a member of many diff erent bands
including Th e Cabin Killers, Mulberry Soul, Outland County, and Th y Burden. Stargazers is a
continuation of Gabe search into the roots of Americana music, evoking the spirit of jamming around
campfi res and fi nding inspiration in the fi elds and forests of American heartland. His new album
features him on cello, fi ddle, tenor banjo, guitar as and lead vocals. Gabe has shared the stage with the
likes of Donna the Buff alo, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Big Mean Sound Machine, Th e Blind
Owl Band, Th e Prickers, and Th underbody.
