KIDD—B.G. Kidd, 75,
passed away June 25, 2018.
B.G. was born in Sioux
Falls, S.D., and raised by
Virgil and Ruth (Whitson)
Stump. Aft er graduating high
school,
B.G. went
on to at-
tend Lane
Commu-
nity Col-
lege.
She had
a variety

reers, including Christmas
tree farming, grounds keep-
ing and care-taking.
B.G. enjoyed playing sol-
itaire and bingo, spending
time on the river and at the
beach, being in the woods,
four-wheeling and being
with friends and family.
She was very active in the
Lorane community.
B.G. was preceded in
death by her parents and
three brothers.
She is survived in death
by her two sisters and broth-
er; daughter April Miller;
sons Jay Stump, Joshua Kidd
and Jedediah Kidd; and nu-
merous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the
care of Smith-Lund-Mills
Funeral Chapel.
No services are planned.
VALENTI— Don Valen-
ti’s life was full of love and
service to others. He was
born in San Jose, Calif., on
Nov. 2, 1960.
He died of an aortic dis-
section on June 20, 2018, on
the Bryant Park ballfi eld in
Albany, Ore.
He has lived in Cottage
Grove since 1993. Don de-
livered RVs across Oregon
and the United States for
Guaranty RV.
He was a skilled screen
printer who took pride in
his craft . He loved to play
soft ball and played with
Snapped Off Sports when
they won the Western Na-
tional Championship last
summer. His teams this year
were Amazon Irregulars and
Th e Wolfpack. He also loved
to bowl.
Don was a loving, devoted
husband, father and friend.
He is survived by his par-
ents: Don and Doris Dupont;
his sisters: Suzanne Vasquez
and Barbara Tavres; his wife
of 25 years, Regie Sison-Val-
enti; and his children: Don-
ny Jr., Michael, Amanda,
Alesia, Tessa, Mike, Alan,
Tony and
Charles;

A celebration of Don’s life
will be held Aug. 11, from

ROWE—Mary G. Rowe,
88 of Creswell, passed away
July 12, 2018.
She was born March 31,
1930, in Detroit, Mich., to
Charles and Mary (Stankev-
ich) Pajot.
Mary was a nun for 21
years at the Sisters of the
Precious Blood Order (Sis-
ter Mary), in Portland, Ore.,
and Anchorage, Alaska. She
was also an offi ce manager
for 20 years with the Maersk

grand-nephews.
A memorial mass will
be held at Tuesday, July 24,
beginning at 11 a.m. the
Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Catholic Church, followed
by a reception in the Parish
Hall.

VENETA — Due to ex-
treme heat and dry condi-
tions, the Oregon Depart-
ment of Forestry has raised
the fi re danger level to
high (yellow) in all of ru-
ral Lane County, southern
Linn County and parts of
northern Douglas Coun-
ty.
At this level the pub-
lic is only allowed to use
gas-powered equipment
only until 10 a.m. and
then again aft er 8 p.m.
No
gas-powered
equipment may be used
during this 10-hour shut-
down period, with the
exception of mowing
well-irrigated green grass
lawns.
Th e use of off road rec-
reational vehicles in rural
portions of the district is
prohibited and campfi res
are only allowed in incor-
porated campgrounds with
built in, metal-ringed fi re
pits.
“While
temperature
does aff ect fi re behavior,
it is not as much a danger
to the fi re as it is a danger
to fi refi ghters” said Dis-
trict Forester Link Smith
with ODF’s Western Lane
District. “Fighting fi res in
cooler conditions is always
diffi cult, but fi ghting fi res
in extreme heat is especial-
ly taxing on those who are
trained to protect our lands
from fi re.
“We are asking that our
public remain mindful of
this as they conduct ac-
tivities during the coming
days.”

Dennis Joel Deere
1949-2018
Dennis Joel Deere of Cottage Grove,
OR, died on July 14 at the age of 68. He
was born on October 9, 1949 in Cot-
tage Grove to parents, Dallas Jesse and
Betty Jeanne (Stoneburg) Deere. Dennis
served in the U.S. Navy during the
Vietnam War. He married Susan Bruni in Reno, NV on May 25,
1984. He was a diesel mechanic for the logging industry. He
drove
Log truck for Bohemia Lumber Co, Willamette Industries, and
Weyerhauser. He also was a mechanic for Leavitts and dispatch-
er for Willamette Industries. He worked and raised beef on his
farm. Dennis enjoyed hunting, fi shing, and BBQ. Most of all
he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Susan Deere of
Cottage Grove; his mother, Betty Deere; sister, Beth Summers
of Chandler, brother, Monty Deere of Cottage Grove; nieces and
nephews, Jon Summers of Eugene, OR; Julie and Chad Beito
of Chandler, AZ; and Chris and Camila Summers of Chandler,
AZ. He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Deere and
brother, Larry Deere. A Funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on
Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel
in Cottage Grove. Burial will follow in Fir Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dennis’ name to the
Agent Orange Vietnam Veterans of America.
