A gas station attendant on
Main St. reported that a driver
who was fi lling up had a fi ft h of
whiskey between his legs and
was consuming it while getting
fuel.

A man on Davis Pl. reported
that his water hose and nozzle
from the side of his home had
been stolen.
May 16
A man on 7th St. reports that
a subject was trying to force en-
try into a church in an attempt
to get some water. Aft er words
between the two, the subject left
and began trying to fl ag down
passing cars.

A bar on Main St. reported
that a man who appeared to be
on meth came into the bar and
then abruptly left .
A report of “loud drumming”
came from an individual on 4th
St. stating that the noise was dis-
turbing to area residents and has
been an ongoing problem with

“drumming is at a reasonable

Kristi Jean Coomler (Sherrill)
1962-2018
Kristi Jean Coomler (Sherrill) was born
to Hazel Jeanette McCullouch Coomler
and Henry Howard Coomler on
September 18, 1962 in Cottage Grove
Oregon. She grew up on Kennady
Lane, Cottage Grove Oregon. She
herself described her childhood as: “ I
was born lucky; the world was mine I
lived on 92 acres on a mountain...life was perfect. I ate the best
food in the world from the garden and ate the best meat in the
world...” She enjoyed playing with her horses, playing with the
farm animals and pets, and climbing trees in the orchard with her
nieces. Kristi enjoyed her primary education at a small country
school, Latham School. She graduated from Cottage Grove High
School September 1980. She married Timothy Sherrill December
20, 1980. She is survived by her 3 children; Brandon Sherrill,
Justin Sherrill, Tafi Sherrill. and two grandchildren. She is
also survived by her 2 brothers and one sister and her brother
in law:,Richard Coomler , David Coomler, Diane Coomler/Bill
Berg. She is also survived by her to beloved cats: Wishpuff and
Mr. Mouse. Kristi enjoyed gardening, and crafts. Kris was well
known for her wit and humor which seemed come out at any
unexpected moment! Everyone enjoyed that which some say was
handed down to her from her mother! Kristi will be missed, by
all of us that love her. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-

Marjory Coiner Wolf • 1930-2018
Marjory Coiner Wolf, age 88, passed away on April 6, 2018
in Tacoma, Washington. She was the daughter of Lester
and Mildred Coiner and grew up in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
Marge was predeceased by her parents, her 3 siblings and her
husband, Bob. She relocated to Olympia, Washington in 1996
and enjoyed spending time at the Olympia Senior Center and
enjoyed the center’s walking club and choir. She relocated to
Gig Harbor, Washington, in 2016.

Daughter, Jana Heyd, and husband Don Whitfi eld; grandson
Adam Heyd and his wife Diana and children, Lucas and Emi,
and step-grandson Matt Whitfi eld, his wife Sara, and their 3
children, Carter, Kate and Myla and: Son, Bob Wolf, and his
wife, Marla and their daughter, Rose, who reside in Boise,
Idaho.
Marge enjoyed her church community, her exercise programs,
spending time with her family and friends, drawing, playing the
piano, and studying languages.

Gerald Matthew Pitcher “Pitch” beloved husband, dad, grandpa, uncle and
brother passed away at his home on April 4, 2018. He was born July 1, 1949
in Eugene, OR, the second child of John W. Pitcher and Vita Matthews Pitcher
Black.
He spent his young life playing on the banks of rivers and in the woods of Fall
Creek, Detroit, Idanha and Cottage Grove, Oregon. He attended school in Cot-
tage Grove OR and graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1967.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970.
After the Army he moved to Thorne Bay, Alaska and found his piece of heaven.
He married Dayle M. Berger and they had three daughters, Cheri Dee, Kimery
Marlys and Kristy Mae. He built a home on the shores of Thorne Bay and in
his spare time he fi shed in his beloved Boston Whaler, hunted and trapped. He
probably would have stayed there forever but his employer Louisiana Pacifi c/
Ketchikan Pulp closed operations in Thorne Bay. He had worked for them for
28 years. He was known by all who knew him to be “one hell of a logger and
shovel operator”-the shovel was his second home.

He later met Kathryn and they married and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. He worked for Kinross Gold/
Fairbanks Gold Mining Inc. for 13 years retiring in 2014. Gerald “Pitch” also had several mining claims in
“Central” and he loved going there with family and friends. He even found gold but probably would have
been just as happy to just dig with his excavator.

He always wanted to hunt again in Oregon so he and Kathryn moved to Sumpter in 2014. Unfortunately,
his health began to fail and recently they had moved to the Roseburg area to be close to the VA Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years Kathryn “Kat” Cooke Pitcher, his three daughters Cheri Dee Kell,
Kimery Healey and Kristy Pitcher; fi ve grandchildren; Ellissa, Nathaniel, Mikaela, Kassidee and Daylenn;
one great grandchild Madelynn and another due August 2018 Trenton Matthew. He is also survived by his
stepsons Blair Hansen and Sean Hansen and their children, Curtis Budetti, Max, Camilla, Selena, Gabriel
and David Hansen; and his four sisters, Sheran Johnsrud (Richard), Pam Dodge (Charles), Judy Gersten-
berger (Mike) and Kit Pitcher. His nieces Tinessa, Alisha, Hollie and Emmalee and nephew Brandon. He
was very loved by his family.
Gerald was preceded in death by his mom Vita Mae Matthews Pitcher Black, stepfather Jim Black, his dad
John W. Pitcher and his nephew Bryan Charles Dodge.
Gerald, Pitch, Dad, Papa will live in our hearts forever and will be missed. It would make Gerald so happy
if in his memory you spend time with your kids and grandkids, take a walk in the woods enjoying nature,
breathing in the fresh air or throw a line in the water, as you remember him.
