Wilson, 57 of Cottage
Grove, Oregon passed
away May 6, 2018. He
was born July 24, 1960,
in Cottage Grove, OR
to Albert and Sha-
ron (Stevenson) Wil-
son. Ronald attended
Cottage Grove High
School and then joined
the U.S. Army in 1978.
He worked rigging and
was a deck hand in the

February 20, 1955.

Pacifi c Wildlife Control con-
tacted the police department at
9:40 p.m. to inform that they
would be shooting pigeons on
the 500 block of Main St. from
10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
A caller reported that his wife
received a gold iPhone that she
had not ordered and believed it
was a case of identity theft .
May 9
A caller near River Road and
Main St. reported a suspicious
condition aft er her husband
saw two men running down the
street and hearing that one had
told the other that they had “just
robbed someone.”
A suspicious condition was
reported on Cleveland St. aft er an
area resident observed a group of
eight to 10 high school students
walking towards the dead end.
Th e woman feared they would be
trespassing in the vacant house at
the end of the street.

A suspicious subject was
reported on River Rd. aft er a man
was seen “prowling” near the rear
of a business. It was unknown if
he was still on the premises.
A man came into the station
to report that a swastika has been
scratched into a urinal in the
restroom at Coiner Park.
May 12
A caller informed the police
that she found a syringe in the
gutter area of Roberts Ln.
May 13
A disturbance was reported
when two females were seen in a
physical fi ght in the middle of a
fi eld on 16th St. Th e caller report-
ed that one female was holding
the other down and punching
her while two men were onlook-
ers.

Malcolm McLeod
“Scotty” Gibson
1931-2018
Malcolm McLeod “Scotty” Gibson
of Springfi eld passed away on May 7,
2018 after a long struggle with cancer.
Malcolm was born in Pacifi c Grove,
CA May 1, 1931 to Samuel and DeEava
Gibson. In 1946, the family relocated
in Oregon where Malcolm graduated
from Drain High School in 1950.
Malcolm married Jeanne Gordineer in 1950 and they settled
in Cottage Grove, where he engaged in sawmill work and
carpentry for a number of years. Later, he went on to graduate
from Lane Community College and the University of Oregon.
After teaching school for a short time, Malcolm opened his own
business, Scotty’s Hardwoods, in Springfi eld, operating it for 25
years before retiring.
Malcolm was a private pilot and enjoyed fl ying his own airplane
for many years. He was a long time member of the Oregon Pilot’s
Association, and also of the Experimental Aircraft Association,
actually taking on the task of building an air-plane in the family
garage.
Malcolm also loved motorcycles, purchasing various models
over the years. A fan of electric cars, he converted a small
Volkswagon Bug into an electric car and enjoyed showing it off
around town, and was fl attered to have an article about him and
the car featured in the local Springfi eld paper.
Besides his wife, Jeanne, Malcolm is survived by 3 daughters:
Sharon McLeod of Beaverton, OR, Karen Gotcher of
Drummond, MT and Laurie Jenkinson of Eugene, OR: a brother,
Donald Gibson of Sun City, AZ: 1 Grandson, 6 Granddaughters,
7 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great Great-granddaughters. An
infant Daughter preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Springfi eld Church of God and very
unhappy whenever his illness forced him to miss a Sunday.
A memorial service for Malcolm will be held on Sunday, May
20, 2018 at Springfi eld Church of God, 14th and D Street at
2:00pm. Viewing will be before the memorial service from
12:30pm – 1:30pm at the Major Family Funeral Home, 112 N.
