CHAMBER NEWSLETTER
Our Mission: Th e Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce promotes economic vitality through advocacy and collaboration with its members and the larger community.
DIRECTOR’S NOTE
THE CARNIVAL IS COMING TO TOWN!
Why do businesses become members of the Chamber of Commerce?
Th rough the Chamber of Commerce, businesses are choosing to invest in the continued prosperity of
Cottage Grove. Th ey are joining a membership of other businesses who understand that there is an
organization (the Chamber) who is working to improve the economic conditions of the community.
Our goal is to create an environment where businesses thrive. We produce events that bring in
travelers who spend money in local shops, gas stations and restaurants. We advocate for the rights
of small businesses through our connections to local, county and state government. We provide
educational opportunities for our business owners and managers to become better at what they do
and we provide networking opportunities for our members to promote what is going on in their
businesses. We also off er exclusive, free, or discounted opportunities for our members to advertise
and market their companies.
Davis Shows Northwest Carnival will be in town May 31 thru June 2 at Bohemia Park.  Let your family
and friends know pre-sales tickets can be purchased for $20 ($25 at the door) at any of the following
locations up until the carnival opens on May 31st:
Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce, 700 E. Gibbs Avenue
Cottage Grove Sentinel, 116 N. 6th Street
Grocery Outlet, 200 Gateway Blvd
Scarpelli’s Short Stop, 911 E. Main Street
Most businesses pay membership dues starting less than $22 per month. Th ere isn’t an ad you can buy
that lasts the entire year and puts you in as many publications, both online and in print for $250. Th e
listing in our annual printed directory alone is worth more than that and since we are a non-profi t
business membership organization, most businesses are able to write off a portion of their dues as a
qualifi ed business expense.* (Consult your tax adviser).
It is diffi cult to quantify the value of Chamber of Commerce membership because someone rarely
walks into a store and says, “I’m a customer because of something the Chamber did.” Th e Chamber
refers people to local businesses every single day. In short, we bring people to town and we help them
fi nd places to spend their money.
Below is a short list of just some of the benefi ts that we off er to our member businesses:
Business names and contact information listed in our annual printed directory and on the
Chamber’s website directory, www.cgchamber.com
Space to display your business cards or brochures at the Cottage Grove Visitor Information
Center
Chamber Membership plaque and/or window decal
Opportunity to have a ribbon cutting ceremony for a grand opening, open house, or special
event
Join us in supporting Chamber member businesses and our local economy and “Shop Chamber
Members fi rst”! Th e chamber’s number one goal is to create a strong local economy. All of the
programs and benefi ts supported by your membership investment go toward achieving that goal.
Your membership is also a commitment to the entire community and a pledge of support for the
economic growth and vitality of the Cottage Grove area. We thank each of you for your New and
Renewed commitment to the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce. We look forward to a
bright and successful year!
