On April 14, Robert and Marie Ray-
mond will be celebrating their 66th wed-
ding anniversary. The celebration, that
is being hosted by their children Danny
Raymond and Denise Parent, will be
from 2-5 p.m. at the Masonic Center and
they are requesting no gifts.
The couple has lived in the area their
entire lives and Robert retired from the
timber industry while Marie retired from
the South Lane School District. Robert
and Marie have six grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild.
Betty Jean Myers 1928-2018
Betty Jean Myers, 89 of Cot-
tage Grove, OR passed away March
25, 2018. She was born on May 21,
1928 in San Diego, CA to George B.
and Helena R. (Spice) Thayer. Betty
Jean graduated from Cottage Grove
High School and was a homemak-
er. She enjoyed canning, knitting,
cooking, baking, quilting and was
best at crocheting; her specialty was
cast iron cooking. Betty served as
one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 78
years and was baptized in 1940. She loved to study the bible and
was active in ministry. She enjoyed camping, gardening and loved
spending time with her grandchildren. Betty married Loren Leon-
ard Myers on April 2, 1948 in Eugene, OR. She is survived by her
sons, Dennis Myers and wife Billie; Vern Myers and wife Sandra
both of Cottage Grove, OR; sisters, Letha Myers and Charlotte
Demmon of Cottage Grove, OR; sister, Evelyn Bender, Eugene,
OR; and three grandchildren. Betty Jean was preceded in death
by her husband, Loren L. Myers (2010). A Memorial Service will
be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at The Kingdom Hall
of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2450 S 6th St. Cottage Grove, OR 97424.

Catharine Ann Levings 1934-2018
Catharine Ann Levings, 83 of
Cottage Grove, OR passed away on
March 22, 2018. She was born on
Nov. 24, 1934 in Cottage Grove, OR
to parents Judah and Mabel (Wright)
Heath. She graduated high school
and was a homemaker who loved
spending time with and caring for
her family. She was a 4-H Leader
and attended every sporting event
for her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, traveling and going to
the theatre. Catharine married Milton A. Levings on August 23,
1953 at the family home. She is survived by her loving husband
of 64 years, Milton Levings; daughter, Linda Levings; daughter
Jane Dixon and husband Bob; son, Todd Levings and wife De-
nise; brothers, Richard and Wilbur Heath; 9 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by granddaughter,
Quinn Levings. A private memorial will be held at a later date for
family and friends. Arrangements in the care of Smith Lund Mills
Funeral Chapel.
Eva Iva Chartrand 1934-2018
Eva Iva Chartrand of Cottage
Grove, OR, passed away March 18,
2018 at the age of 84. She was born
in Jackson, Michigan to Ottis Ritter
and Agnes Marie Moore. After high
school Eva stayed home to raise her
six daughters. She loved singing,
painting, gardening, and she was
a master builder, she could do just
about anything. Her greatest accom-
plishments were climbing Mt. Hood
with her church group, being runner up in a mother daughter pag-
eant, and surviving a terrible car accident after being hit by a drunk
driver. But most of all loving her family and making her daughters
laugh with her good sense of humor. Eva belonged to the Cottage
Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church and she read her bible daily.
She is survived by her fi ve daughters; Carolyn K. Brenden of San
Jose, CA; daughter Julie K. Brenden of San Jose, CA; daughter Re-
becca K. Cowlan of Springfi eld, OR; daughter Sarah K. Bentley of
Junction City, OR; daughter Rachel K. Fisher of Eugene, OR; nine
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death
by her parents, her daughter Linda K. Brenden and brother Milo
Ritter. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 7th at 2:30
p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 820 S 10th St. Cottage
Grove, OR 97424. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills
Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove, Oregon.

Iris Irene Eldredge
1922-2018
Iris Irene Eldredge passed into the
light of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
on Sunday, February 25th 2018, at the
age of 95. She was born on September 20,
1922 to Jesse Smith-Crager and Roy Hugo
Crager, at their home in Kansas City, Kan-
sas. Two years later, the family moved to
Southern California.  In 1940, she married
Wesley Sheridan Eldredge. Th ey lived in
San Gabriel, California until June of 1970 when they moved to Eugene,
Oregon. Wesley passed away in 2000 at their home in Eugene. At the time of her death, Iris lived at
Middlefi eld Oaks Assisted Living, in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Iris was preceded in death by her par-
ents, a sister, three brothers and a grandchild, Steven Shands.  Survivors include two daughters and
two sons-in-law; Linda Shands, (Gene) and Peggy Tessandori, (Tom); three grandchildren, Michael
Shands, (Lisa) Th om Tessandori (Megan) and Andrew Tessandori (Dorothy), and fi ve great-grand-
children, Kaili Shands, Zane Shands, Hannah Shands, Emma Tessandori and Jordan Tessandori. 
Iris was a wife, mother, homemaker, and volunteered at her children’s schools. She taught pre-
school in California, where she also served as a Kindergarten Sunday School Teacher, Wedding
Planner, and Mission Guild member at San Gabriel Union Church. Aft er the move to Eugene, she
used these same gift s to serve at First Baptist Church in Eugene, Oregon, where she taught Kinder-
garten Sunday School for over 40 years. In her later years, she attended River Road Baptist Church
in Eugene. She loved Jesus, her family, her friends, and every child that crossed her path. She was a
light to all who knew her, and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Th ursday, April 12, 2018, at 1:30 PM at First Baptist
Church of Eugene, 3550 Fox Meadow Road, Eugene, Oregon 97408.  As a tribute for 40+ years of
teaching, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Iris Eldredge Memorial fund. All funds
will be designated for the children’s Sunday School Department.

Kevin Gregory Davis 53, of Cottage Grove OR passed away on
Monday March 26, 2018 in his home. He was born in Hawthorne
California to Keith and Barbara Davis.
Kevin graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia California
in 1984. He joined and served the US Coast Guard from February
1987 to March 1997. He was stationed at Cape May NJ, New London
CT, Elizabeth City NC, Sacramento CA, Kodiak AK and fi nally back
to Sacramento. He began his career in the USCG as a Gunnermate on
the US Coast Guard Cutter Evergreen and went onto as an Aviation
Mechanic where he worked on C130s at Air Station Sacrament and Air Station Kodiak. After
getting out of the Coast Guard, Kevin and his family settled in Cottage Grove where he began
working at Cottage Grove Lumber Mill – Weyerhaeuser from 1997 until his passing.
Kevin married to his best friend Teresa Gonzales on April 24, 1987, and have 2 children, Derrick
Davis of Cottage Grove, age 30 and Savannah Davis of Cottage Grove, age 17.
Kevin was very active in his community; he was a member of the Elk Lodge BPOE 1904, The
American Legion, the VFW and the Evergreen Air and Space Museum. He volunteered for many
social and charitable events through these organizations.
Kevin’s passion for entertaining and cooking was well known among his many family and
friends. He was a fan of the Oregon Ducks and enjoyed his season tickets to the Football games
where he would show off his many talents in cooking through his tailgating parties. He enjoyed
traveling, motorcycle rides along the lake, and was active in many golf and pool leagues. He
loved and enjoyed tending to his pets that included 3 dogs, many chickens and a duck.
He will always be remembered for his sense humor, his jokes and his laughter and for his love
of extremely hot food. Kevin was a loving father and enjoyed being a mentor not only to his
children, but to many of their friends as well.
Kevin is survived by his wife Teresa Davis, son Derrick Davis, daughter Savannah Davis, mother
Barbara Bolding-Myer, sister Victoria Davis and sister Kathy Davis.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father Keith Davis in 2011 and his nephew Jared Davis in
2016 and his 2 brother in-laws Jesus Magdaleno and Felix “Brandon” Cruz 2013.
Kevin was close to his very large family and he will surely be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday April 8 th , 2018 at the Elks Lodge, 755
N River Rd. Cottage Grove OR. Arrangements in the care of Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel,
