has seen his team grow as the
season has progressed.
“There’s no doubt that it’s
upped a level. And it’s a men-
tality and we don’t have a lot of
naturally hard-nosed, get after it
kids. We have to turn a switch
a little bit, they have to fi nd an
alter-ego and be someone a little
different sometimes. They’re all
really nice kids and sometimes
that’s not the best thing,” he
said.
“You have to be angry. You
have to play with a chip on your
shoulder and have something
to prove. And they did a really

The group of over 20 mem-
bers – and always looking for
more to join as they will kindly
remind you – get together every
Wednesday at 9 a.m. starting
April 4 and stretching through
October to play a round of golf.
“We have people that are still
working up through a couple
of our ladies are well into their
80s,” said Linda Franklin who
has been in the group for 15
years. “And they beat us all the
time. It’s a great group and it’s a
very fun group, too.”
Franklin sees that the group
works because of the comradery
and joy of the game. And their
insistence on playing the game
that they love.
“I’m a very competitive per-
son and I love the exercise. The
thing that is great about golf la-
dies is that they never give up,”
she said. “We had one member
who had open-heart surgery and
came back. Literally, they don’t
give up until they have to. And
they’re very competitive. And
we have a great time. It’s the
most fun group I’ve ever been
involved with.”
