A look at local events, achievements and announcements in Cottage Grove
SLMH to hold ribbon-cutting
On Thursday, March 22, South Lane Mental
Health will celebrate the opening of expanded
outpatient therapy offi ces in the former Lane
Council of Governments’ Senior & Disabled
Services building at 37 N. Sixth St., in down-
town Cottage Grove. Tours will take place
from 4 to 6 p.m. A ribbon cutting is scheduled
for 5:15 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
South Lane Mental Health’s mission is to
restore hope and renew lives through com-
passionate mental health services, support and
advocacy. The agency was established in 1988
and now serves more than 2,200 individuals
annually.
The offi ces — needed to meet increasing de-
mand for outpatient therapy services — were
remodeled with help from $25,000 from Lane
County Community & Economic Develop-
ment. South Lane Mental Health continues to
operate out of its other Cottage Grove offi ces
at 1245 and 1345 Birch Ave., and 75 S. 5th St.
In addition to outpatient therapy services,
South Lane Mental Health offers crisis re-
sponse, medication and case management,
Intensive Community-based Treatment Ser-
vices for Children and families, school-based
therapy and a foster home and housing support
for individuals with persistent mental health
challenges so they can live as independently as
possible in the community. South Lane Men-

GRANT WINNERS: On Tuesday, March 13, the Cottage Grove
Community Foundation awarded its 2018 class of grant recipients
their prizes.
The $17,610.96 in grants was made possible through donations
from the Cottage Grove Community Foundation Fund, the Carlton
Woodard Fund, the Green Earth Fund, the Believe in Angels Fund,
the Frank and Pamela Simpson Family Fund, the Veatch Fund, and
the Women and Children Assistance Fund.
