Summit, a yearly online writing conference, donated $3,328.38 to Harrison Elementary
School on November 17th, 2017. This donation will be used supplement the library,
adding new books to the shelves at the new Harrison Elementary School next fall.
Since the inaugural 2015 Picture Book Summit, almost $20,000 has been donated
towards child-centric, literacy based efforts.
Picture Book Summit worked closely with Garrett Bridgens in the South Lane Schools
District offi ce to be able to bring the donation to our community. Several Cottage
Grove High School students helped created an “about Harrison” video for the Picture
Book Summit, bolstering their resumes. Many Harrison Elementary School students
participated as actors in the video, and the principal, Heidi Brown, and the librarian,
Misty Moore, both assisted to bring this donation to fruition.
The new Harrison Library will receive a needed fi nancial boost to replace worn and
outdated books as well as support other literary needs.
