hopes to fi rst conquer the project of refurbishing the exterior of the
building.
To do that, it needs $300,000--a sum it hoped to make a dent in
during Saturday night's event.
Complete with a swing band and silent auction, the Mayor's Ball
was designed to fundraise for the project.
The total amount raised was not available as of press time. How-
ever, the Master of Ceremonies was met with silence during an at-
tempted extraction of funds.
Starting the donation amount at $25,000, paddles stayed fi rmly in
hand and on tables all the way down the plea--$10,000, $5,000--un-
til Chris Woodard turned in an IOU for $2,500. The call for a $1,000
donation was also met with silence before the plea earned one pad-
dle in the air for $500, one for $250 and a handful for $100.
"It was cool. It was awesome," Meyers said. "It was a fun evening
to support the armory and bring in revenue. We appreciate everyone
who came out and this project is moving forward."
