On the boys side, there were 12 varsi- ty teams competing. The Lions, that were notably without their two of their top three runners Konrad Raum and Paesen Timm who also are on the boys soccer team, fi nished third as a team behind Santiam Christian and Chemawa. Jimmy Talley led the way fi nishing in second place. On the girls side, there were nine teams competing and the Lions took second place behind Neah-Kah-Nie. The Elks continued their dominance and went up 62-0 with 4:00 minutes left in the fi rst half. The backups then played the rest of the game. Prospect has just 17 players, which is small even among 8-man, and eight of them are freshman. Through three games the team has scored just six points. “I’d like to be tested a little bit more and we will next week with… but it was a good chance for us to come out excited and get after it and execute. The girls team raced in the Division 3 Varsity race also against big schools from across the state, Washington and Cali- fornia. The team was last of the 32 teams that raced. Sobotkova led the way with a time of 23:39 which was over a 30 second personal best. Yoncalla Football (3-2, 2-0 Skyline) The Eagles defeated Lowell at home 84-56 last Friday. After starting 0-2, the team has won three games in a row and are tied for fi rst in league play. Yoncalla Volleyball (3-8, 2-6 Skyline) The week started with the Eagles falling in straight sets to Lowell on Monday and Days Creek on Tuesday. The team re- grouped on Thursday and beat Umpqua Valley Christain/Mel- rose 3-2. North Douglas Football (3-2, 2-0 Skyline) Friday night the Warriors fell to Mapleton 56-36 on the road in a non-league game. They will face cross-town rival Yoncalla at home on Friday. North Douglas Volleyball (20- 5, 8-0 Skyline) The Warriors continued their winning ways as they beat Elk- ton in straight sets at home on Thursday. The team is currently ranked number one in all of 1A. Elkton Volleyball On Tuesday the Elks beat Umpqua Valley Christian/Mel- rose in straight sets and then fell to North Douglas in straight sets on Thursday.
