Kennedy starts the new year
Hailie Ketcher has moved 11 times in her life
but the move from the old trailers at Taylor Ave.
to a larger space at Delight Valley has been the
toughest due to the sheer number of things mak-
ing the trip.
Ketcher is the new principal at Kennedy High
School, taking the seat of Mike Ingman who
took the place of Iton Udosenata who left his
post as principal of Cottage Grove High School
last spring. Ketcher previously told the Sentinel
that heading up an alternative high school was
her dream job and the past month saw that dream
coming true.
Ketcher oversaw Kennedy’s move from trailers
located near the old high school on Taylor Ave.
to Delight Valley where students will be sharing
space with Head Start but have a solid roof over
their heads and for the fi rst time, a gym.
The new year also brings a new name. The South
Lane School Board voted to allow Kennedy to
drop the “Alternative” from its moniker, leaving
it to be known as Al Kennedy High School. The
change was said to take aim at negative stereo-
types associated with alternative high schools.
The 2017-2018 will see 94 students utilize the
new building and new name as they navigate
earning their high school diplomas or GEDs.

Addison Hitt an excellent
student, friend, and role
model. She does an excellent
job of participating in the
classroom and sharing her
insights with other students
and teachers. Outside of school
she is very enriched and is
very involved in 4-H. She shows
sheep and pigs at the Lane
County Fair earning her many
awards, she has been showing
since she was in 3rd grade. A
fun fact about Addison is her
nickname is ‘shorty’ which she
fi nds endearing.
Her peers
enjoy being in her presence and
I look forward to her continued
success in school and in life.
