It's a jungle: May 13, 1987
Seemingly engulfed by
high grass, Art Bruni took
advantage of the nice
weather last week to mow
a portion of his proper-
ty at the corner of 10th
st. and Adams Ave. The
three-foot high and high-
er grass needed to be cut
for visibility reasons, and
Bruni even had a rough
time seeing some of the
items buried in the grass
such as botties, cans, even
a snake or two. Photo by

Oregon taxpayers won't be seeing a kicker in the
form of a check th is year. Instead, the kicker which
would amount to approximatley $200 per resident,
will come as a credit in next year's taxes. For exam-
ple, if a resident owes the state $300 after fi ling
taxes, the bill will only be $100.

Oregon Governor
Kate Brown pardoned a
fourth-grader this week
after the boy wrote the governor a letter explaining
that, while on a school trip, he took a pen and a ha-
zelnut and was very sorry for his crime but hoped
the governor would accept his apology and the
dollar bill enclosed inside. Upon receiving the note
the governor issued a pardon and a postcard with
a thanks for the boy's honesty. The exchange made
the rounds on social media.
