South Lane Fire and Rescue raised $8,816 in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by climbing the
Columbia Center in downtown Seattle. The local team raised $2,521 through community donations and raised the
remainder by reaching out to family and friends. The annual event raises money for cancer therapies and other

Community Sharing relies on several funding sources, including government grants.
"Not to get political but we don't know what's going to still be available or how things are going
to work moving forward," Fleck said, noting the current tug-of-war over funding at the federal level.
The organization provides basic needs for low-income and
homeless individuals including food, clothes, housing assistance
and other neccessities.
The fundraiser attracted 211 residents and provided a choice be-
tween 13 soups.
"It really was a great event," Fleck said.
The Souper fundraiser raised over $9,000 during its annual event which
drew 211 residents and 13 different soups. All of the money raised will go
to Community Sharing.
