The City of Cottage Grove is accepting applications for a new position to oversee the op-
erations of the Public Works & Development Department. The position is a department
head position that works under the general direction of the City Manager to oversee the
operations of the previous Public Works and Community Development Departments.
Public Works & Development includes the operations of Water, Streets, Wastewater,
Storm Drainage, Engineering, Facility and Equipment Maintenance, Land Use Plan-
ning, Economic Development, Emergency Management and contracted Building In-
spection Services for the City. Applicants must demonstrate experience with business
and management principles, an ability to manage talented professionals and a history of
progressive, proactive and innovative program development and administration. Eight
years of increasingly responsible experience managing or supervising operations, pro-
grams, budgets and services preferably in municipal or public sector environment is re-
quired. A degree in Planning, Community Development, Business Administration, Pub-
lic Administration or related fi eld is preferred; however any combination of education
and experience may be substituted as long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge,
and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Annual salary is $75,564 to $96,432 depending on qualifi cations with excellent bene-
fi ts.
