CALL ME TODAY. ® ™ This week, Public Works contracted with Western Asphalt to re- stripe the parking lots at City Hall, across the street from City Hall, Middlefi eld Golf Course, and the parking areas at Coiner Park near the tennis and basketball courts. Western Asphalt striped the park- ing stalls, applied the handicapped parking symbols as needed, and applied restrictive parking verbiage where required. The two City parking lots, located between Whiteaker and Gibbs Avenues at 7th and 8th Streets, will be striped after the curb stops are removed to accommodate a parking direction change from 90 degree to angle parking. Homeless Camp Clean-up Late last week, Public Works contracted with Northwest Hazmat to clean-up a particularly nasty homeless camp under the Main Street Bridge. The camp had been there for some time and was not readily visible from street level. There was the usual trash, blankets, garbage, food waste, metals, and human waste. The area was not accessible to equipment so, the entire clean-up had to be performed by hand. It took Northwest Hazmat 14 hours to clean- up the site and dispose of all the material. These homeless camps pose a danger to clean-up crews because of the potential presence of needles, sharps, and human waste, in addition to, the usual garbage and litter. The City spends a great deal of staff time and money for the clean-up and disposal of materials coming from the various homeless camps that spring-up around the City.
