NEWSPAPERS IN EDUCATION
A peek into 2017's activities and plans
Wow!! What a Winter break we all had. So
many activities had to be rescheduled or can-
celed. We had fun in the snow though. We had
a very successful Holiday Bazaar on December
3rd. Vendors came from as far as Albany to sell
their wares to Cottage Grove friends and family.
It was a great time for all
and many people pur-
chased gifts for family
and friends. Teachers
and staff made wreathes
and boughs out of local
pines greens. The K/1
class sold snowfl akes
made from old puzzle
pieces, 4th /5th grade
made reindeer from can-
dy canes and Mr. Ghelfi ,
our middle school teach-
er, dressed up as a skin-
ny Santa. It was a Ho-
Ho-Ho of a good time.
Our Winter Celebration
Concert was able to
go off without a hitch.
Beautiful music fi lled
the gym as family and
friends gathered one last
time before Snowpoca-
lypse hit. Teachers sold
popcorn, hot dogs, and
goodies to the crowd be-
fore the show, adding to
the fund raising money from the Holiday Bazaar.
time. A special thanks to our amazing South Lane
maintenance crew who were able to get the soft
fall chips laid out. The 3 and 4 year olds were so
excited when the temperature went up just enough
for them to go outside and play.
The New Year started off with a
bang!
Did you know that February 14th is Oregon’s
birthday? Our entire school will be going to Sa-
lem and spending the day learning about our state
and our government. We will visit the Rotunda,
Senate and House Chambers, and the Governor’s
Ceremonial Offi ce. Who knows who else we
might run into.
Middle school students had their fi rst dance.
It was one of the activities postponed due to the
snow and ice. Mr. Ghelfi played DJ, while the
students danced, played games, and visited. The
preschool playground fi nally was ready for play-
