HELP WANTED
The Cottage Grove Sentinel is seeking a talented Editor
for our award-winning weekly newspaper and the voice
of Oregon’s South Willamette Valley for over a century. The
Cottage Grove Sentinel seeks the contributions of a journalist
with a passion for community news. The successful candidate
will have strong copy-editing and reporting skills and the
ability to guide a staff. The ideal candidate will excel at
contributing high-quality stories, photographs and layout for
digital as well as traditional news formats.
A four-year degree in journalism or a related field is
preferred, but consideration will also be given to applicants
with significant experience in a newsroom setting, particularly
with a community news background. Necessary abilities
include excellent writing and reporting, editing, coaching
editorial staff and photography skills, professionalism and
a talent for cultivating productive contacts across a wide
variety of disciplines, from businesses and government
leaders, administrators and public relations representatives.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, web and Social Media
in a newsroom environment.
There’s always something happening in Cottage Grove, a
quintessential timber town with access to many of Oregon’s
natural wonders, and we’re looking for an Editor who’s ready
to be where the news is.
Those interested in applying for the position must send
a cover letter, resume and five published writing samples to
Gary Manly at gmanly@cgsentinel.com or by mail: 116 N. 6th
St., Cottage Grove, OR 97424.
