Saturday’s holiday events
Jingle Bell 5K
The Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk
starts an incredibly busy day
of holiday kickoff activities on
Saturday, Dec. 3. The run be-
gins and ends at the Cottage
Grove High School track, and
participants receive hot choco-
late or cider, antlers and bells
to add to the holiday spirit. The
race starts at 9 a.m., though the
Jingle Dash, a 400 or 800-meter
run for kids, begins at 8:30. Pro-
ceeds from the race benefi t the
Cottage Grove High School Jog
Club, Key Club and Trees of Joy
holiday campaign. More infor-
mation and registration is avail-
able at www.runcgrun.com.
Breakfast with
Santa
This Saturday from 7-11 a.m.,
South Lane Fire and Rescue will
be hosting the annual Break-
fast with Santa at the Fire Sta-
tion. Each year, families gather
around the Station, where Santa
Claus will take down Christmas
wishes, and dine on pancakes.
South Lane Fire and Rescue
helps fund most of the food that
is served. During the breakfast,
there will also be a place to do-
nate for unwrapped toys for the
Toys for Tots drive.
Dr. Snapp Open
House
The Dr. Snapp House, located
at 360 S. River Road, will host
a Victorian bazaar on Saturday
from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Turkey Drop
The Lions’ championship
football game led to the resched-
uling of the Main Street Turkey
Drop, in which those who spend
$10 at participating local busi-
nesses by Friday will assemble
under the Odd Fellows Building
downtown at 2:30 p.m. Saturday
for a chance to catch a turkey
and a prize.
Tree lighting
ceremony
This year, Santa will visit
All-America City Square at the
corner of Seventh and Main
streets to light the Christmas
tree at 5 p.m. Saturday. Maia
Wilhour and Kira Carver will
also sing Christmas carols at
the square from 4:30-6:15 p.m.,
and Smokey the Bear will be
on hand courtesy the Cottage
Grove Ranger District from 3-8
p.m. The Youth Advisory Coun-
cil will lead Christmas caroling
from 7-7:30 p.m.

Santa at City Hall
Santa will travel to City Hall
after he lights the downtown
tree, and he’ll offer candy canes,
cider, cookies and pictures from
5:30-8 p.m.
Scavenger Hunt
The Cottage Grove Main
Street Program has organized a
scavenger hunt with items hid-
den at participating businesses
from 5:30-8 p.m.

ter hosts an evening of hayrides,
caroling, soup and free Christ-
mas trees from 5:30-8 p.m. at
The Cottage Grove Lions Club
will be offering wonderful See’s
products to benefit their sight &
hearing projects in our community.
Our sales trailer will be located in the Pinnocchio’s Pizza parking
lot on Main Street.
Our hours will be 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. through
