He was born March 27, 1953 in Artesia, Calif. to Marion E. and Tom- mie D. (Os- wald) Mur- phy. Michael graduated from Gahr High School in Cali- fornia and studied baseball and criminology at Cerritos Col- lege. He designed satellites for Rockwell International, worked at Cool Middle Roofi ng and was later the manager of “The Popu- lar Place” bar in Moab, Utah. He also worked on a crusher and mixing concrete for Moab Redi- Mix, was a road maintenance and street sweeper at Midstate Industrial for 16 years and Gos- hen Equipment for four years. On July 5, 1982 in Moab, Utah, he and Laurie R. Roark were married. Michael enjoyed working on cars, was an avid reader, liked to help kids learn and loved base- ball. He played for the Balti- more Orioles Triple A League. When Michael learned that he was going to be a father and that his son was on the way, nothing else mattered. His son Michael was his whole world. Michael is survived by his wife, Laurie Murphy of Curtin, Oregon, and son, Michael Ed- ward Murphy of Eugene, Or- egon. A memorial service and re- ception will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at Margaret Melody Morris, 81, of Springfi eld, formerly of Saginaw, Oregon died Oct. 28, 2016. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove. Thomas J. Sheredy 1952-2016 Th omas J. Sheredy, 64, of Cottage Grove died Sept. 22, 2016 from pulmonary embolism and cardiac arrest. He was born March 26, 1952 in Johnson City, N.Y. to Joe and Olga (Kolosna) Sheredy. He graduated from Archbishop Mitty High in San Jose, Calif. and attended college. On June 22, 1985 in Los Gatos, Calif., he married Gail Galbreath. Th omas worked for IBM in San Jose, Calif. for 20 years retiring in 1996. Th omas loved rock and mountain climbing when he was younger. He was, at the time he did it, the youngest person to climb the east face of Mt. Whitney at the age of 17. He still used his skills for climbing trees and downing limbs. He loved and appreciated old woodworking tools and enjoyed using them. If someone did not know the name or the use for a tool, he could tell them and demonstrate it. He loved the creek on his property and spent time at it daily looking for special rocks, crystals, and items of unique quality. Th omas was married to the love of his life and she to hers. He loved his daughter, his brothers, sisters and friends. He was a unique and special person and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Gail Galbreath-Sheredy, mother-in-law, Naomi Galbreath of Mountain View, Calif., a daughter, Maegan Sheredy of Springfi eld, Ore., his twin, Linda Heinlein of San Jose, Calif., other sister, Lisa Sheredy of Los Angeles, Calif., three brothers, Mark Sheredy of Morgan Hill, Calif., Brian Sheredy of Scotts Valley, Calif. and Joe Sheredy of San Jose, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held Nov. 19 from 12:30-4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Cottage Grove. Wayne Edgar Tonole 1939-2016 Wayne Edgar Tonole, 76, died of complications related to Parkinson’s disease on Octo- ber 10, 2016, at the Shangri-La Home Care facility in Lynnwood, Wash. Wa y n e was born Nov. 3, 1939 in Walden, Or- egon, to Domenico and Thelma Tonole. He grew up in nearby Cottage Grove, graduating from Cottage Grove High School in 1957. Wayne attended Shasta College in Redding, Calif., where he played baseball. After college, he moved to the Seattle area, where he lived most of his adult life. Wayne spent 35 years as a warehouseman, working for companies such as Boise Cas- cade, John L. Bird Offi ce Sup- plies and Klips Stationers. Outside of work, Wayne was an avid sports fan, particularly baseball and University of Or- egon football. He also coached women’s softball teams for many years in the 1970s and 80s. Wayne is survived by his sons, Greg Tonole (Seattle) and Jeff Tonole (Ithaca, N.Y.), daugh- ter-in-law Kim Weeden, grand- son Quinn Tonole, and former spouse Peggy Tonole. A remembrance gathering for Wayne will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Nov. 12 at the Water- shed Pub & Kitchen, 10104 3rd Avenue NE, in Seattle. Kerry Patrick Harris 1964-2016 Kerry Patrick “Pat” Harris, 52, of Halsey, Oregon died Oct. 6, 2016 from complications from hip replacement surgery. He was born Jan. 7, 1964 in Gold Beach, Oregon to Doug and Donna (McCaw) Harris. Pat graduated from Cottage Grove High School and attend- ed Lane Community College. His early career was work- ing in the family business, RD Harris Construction. He cur- rently was working for Preci- sion Document Solutions doing tech work. Sibley, 62, of Rose- burg, Oregon, a loving husband and father died Oct. 20, 2016 af- ter struggling many years with various types of cancer. Ron is survived by his wife, Nannette Sibley, their d a u g h t e r, Lisa Mos- ley, her husband Corey, their three chil- dren Brittany, Kirsten, and Cody and Ron’s son, Mike Sibley and his wife Melissa, and their son Alan, his parents Dude and The- na Sibley, and his brothers Den- nis Sibley, and Lynn Sibley. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1973 and immediately went into the Navy from 1972-1975. He was sta- tioned on the USS Long Beach, a nuclear cruiser which earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (1 star), Meritorious unit com- mendation. Ron worked as a millwright in the powerhouse at RFP. He enjoyed working and always brought his unique sense of hu- mor with him wherever he was. His real love was for his family. He sought to teach his children and grandchildren the impor- tance of honesty, integrity, hard word, good character, strength, faith and his trust in God and the real meaning of life. He loved the outdoors, camping, fi shing, hunting, and hoped to pass this love on to his kids and grand- kids. He was described as the patri- arch of his family and his love, gentle guidance, and funny sense of humor will be missed beyond words. Donald Lee Rosetta 1928-2016 Donald Lee Rosetta, 88, of Cottage Grove passed away Oct. 26, 2016 from age related causes. He was born Oct. 26, 1928 in Crested Butte, Colo. to Eugene and Hermoine (Schoy) Rosetta. D o n graduated high school and served in the U.S. C o a s t Guard. He began his career as a 2-way radio salesman to fi re and police departments for Motorola; retiring after 30 years as the Vice President of Market- ing. Don played tennis, loved swimming, watching football and, earlier in life, played foot- ball in high school. He loved water skiing, fl ying Piper Cubs and new cars. He was a Masons member. Don married Shirley J. Bot- toms on December 26, 1947 in Las Vegas, NV. They were mar- ried for 63 years. He is survived by a daughter, Candice Shoshin and husband Peter of Cottage Grove, a son, Randall Rosetta and wife Dee of Adelaide, Australia; fi ve grand- children and 10 great-grandchil- dren.
