winner of Gladstone and As-
toria. Astoria had previously
beaten Gladstone during week
two, 49-42.
Though Cottage Grove is fa-
vored to win, the game will have
higher stakes than just a perfect
season on the line. From here on

Cassidy Herbert and fresh-
man Reilly Kelty are some of
the more aggressive players on
the team. Herbert, a starter, is an
extremely powerful and coordi-
nated player and is one of the
team’s leading hitters with num-
ber of kills. Kelty, a fi rst-year
varsity player, may lack some
varsity experience that older
players have, but has plenty of
potential to become a team lead-
er as she progresses through the
years. Her height is a distinct
advantage that will be useful
defensively and offensively.
The Lions will lose some se-
nior talent after this year, but the
amount of young talent is prom-
ising for the team and it should
be upward momentum for at
least the next few years.
