The Offi ce of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman
is currently accepting applications for Volunteer
Ombudsmen in Lane County. The Offi ce of the
Long-Term Care Ombudsman advocates for the
rights of Oregonians living in licensed long-term
care and residential facilities. Their mission is to
enhance the quality of life; improve the level of
care; protect individual rights and promote the dig-
nity of each Oregon citizen living in a long-term
care facility.
The Offi ce said the need for Volunteer Ombuds-
man in Lane County is great. According to its press
release, only 50 percent of the 160 nursing facili-
ties, assisted living facilities and residential care
facilities have an Ombudsman assigned to them,
leaving many vulnerable residents without the ad-
vocacy and protection they need. The Offi ce of the
Long-Term Care Ombudsman provides Volunteer
Ombudsmen with training, certifi cation and con-
tinuing support. Those interested in the opportu-
nity can call 800-522-2602 and visiting the Offi ce
on the web at www.oregon.gov/ltco. Training is
scheduled for November, 2016.
The Lane County Sher-
iff’s Offi ce is requesting
the public’s assistance in
locating a missing/endan-
gered 13-year old female,
Jessica Coon. Coon was
last seen on Sept. 21 at a
residence off of Congdon
Creek Road near the Hor-
Jessica Coon
ton store.
She is also known to
frequent Eugene and has family and friends there.
The Sheriff’s Offi ce is requesting that anyone
who has seen Jessica Coon or has information on
her whereabouts to contact 541-682-4141.
