tivities such as various lawn games and a farmer's market. Farmers from around the area gathered
at Bohemia Park on Saturday to educate locals and children on their products as well as promote
fresh produce. The farmer's market and games were followed by a dinner and dancing at the Bohe-
mia Public Market across the street.

Last week, students Jon Rob-
ertson, Vincent Smart and Sean
Butler got their opportunity to
be the “cool kids” and share
what they know about guinea
pigs with this reporter, which in-
cludes the fact that Butler cares
for one of Hoot’s offspring,
named Pea Shooter, at his own
home.
There are other lessons to
learn from guinea pigs as well.
Last week, Smart, Butler and
Robinson spent part of an af-
ternoon practicing math by col-
lecting what Jenkins referred to
as “poop data,” a running tally
of which guinea pig pooped and
when. They also shared knowl-
edge about the sounds the ani-
mals make and why.
“It’s nice to see it all happen-
ing in front of them for real,”
said Jenkins, who describes
Harrison as a welcoming, ac-
cepting and encouraging school
for her students.
“It’s been a dream come true
for me,” she said.
