The ‘Just for Today’ Al-Anon group
in Yoncalla will host a ‘Writing for Re-
covery” workshop at the Yoncalla Li-
brary at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Area forum coordinator Laney J. will
lead a workshop on writing stories of
recovery. Some refreshments will be
provided, though guests may also bring
their own sack lunch.

seized numerous items from the resi-
dence that they say related to the inves-
tigation. Also seized were narcotics.
All three subjects were arrested and
lodged at the Douglas County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Offi ce Detectives are
in contact with the United States Secret
Service, and more arrests from the in-
vestigation are expected.

lar time. Buses should be on the same
schedule as in the spring. Questions

the meeting, plans for the fall dinner
and bingo nights will be discussed.
They are talking of having a taco din-
ner, both meat and vegetarian, for the

The Rural Arts Center movie nights
return in October at the Grange. One of
their features will be the product of the

Fort Umpqua Days
Elkton Community Education Cen-
ter (ECEC) is holding its annual Fort
Umpqua Days celebration on Sept. 3-
4 at 15850 Highway 38 W in Elkton.
The theme for this year’s celebration
is “The Stagecoach Mystery” and por-
trays a glimpse of Elkton’s history.
Kick-off event will be a parade at 10
a.m. Saturday through Elkton. A two-
day bass tournament launches Saturday
and Sunday morning with weigh-in and
awards on Sunday afternoon.
The ECEC reconstruction of historic
Fort Umpqua will be the center of atten-
tion again this year. Activities depict-
ing life at a Hudson’s Bay Company fur
trading post will be demonstrated at the
fort site throughout the weekend.

Since late July of 2016, the Douglas
County Sheriff’s Offi ce has been re-
ceiving information of counterfeit $100
bills being passed in various locations
in Douglas County.
The Sheriff’s Offi ce Detectives Divi-
sion began an investigation into the in-
formation, and during the investigation
developed information that 36-year old
Corey R. Roland of Glide, along with
others, was involved in the production
and passing of the bills.
On Aug. 15, the Sheriff’s Offi ce
served a search warrant at Corey Ro-
land’s residence, located in the 200
Block of Estella, Glide. Contacted at
the residence at the time the warrant
