The OSAA Executive Board
has approved the use of three-
person offi ciating crews for the
6A, 5A and 4A basketball play-
offs beginning in 2017. The
expansion takes effect with this
season’s early round playoff
games at high school sites as
well as the quarterfi nals through
the state championship games at
fi nal / neutral sites.
Schools and leagues in all
classifi cations will continue to
have the option of using three
or two-person crews during the
regular season, provided the lo-
cal offi cials associations are able
to cover the games. This option
was allowed, for the fi rst time,
during the 2015-16 season with
nine of 38 leagues choosing to
use three-person crews.
“Cooperation between the 17
local associations and OSAA
member schools and leagues
made the fi rst year a positive
one and we are excited to move
forward,” said Cindy Simmons,
OSAA Assistant Executive Di-
rector in charge of basketball.
“A strong commitment to train-
ing at the local association level
has been a key to the success
along with the fi nancial com-
mitment from schools and the
OSAA Executive Board in add-
ing an offi cial. The vast majority
of state high school associations
in the country are using three-
person crews during the regular
and post season and we’re look-
ing forward to joining them.”
At the conclusion of the
2016-17 season, information
will be gathered from schools
at all classifi cation levels and a
thorough review of the effects
of using an additional offi cial
will be conducted. According
to Simmons, the goal is to im-
plement the use of three-person
crews in the post-season for all
classifi cations as soon as fea-
sible.

CAMERON REITEN
I was born in the small town of Valley City, North Dakota on December 21, of
1986. I moved to Oregon in 1994 when I was seven years old. I graduated from
Cottage Grove High School in 2005. In 2003 I came to KNND as an intern
in the news department. My eight week internship served to reinforce my
conviction that I wanted a career in radio. I was hired in 2005 at er graduation
and have been working at the radio station since. I have numerous duties at
KNND, among them local news producer, host of the Rockin' Oldies Morning
Show, as well as the Round Up Classic Country and Western Hoedown,
(Monday and h ursday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm) and the ever popular Swap and
Shop show. As of June of 2013, I am also now the proud owner of KNND,
and love the opportunity to carry on the tradition of service that has been the
hallmark of KNND.
