WOE HERITAGE FAIR 2016
Gene Campbell Memorial Lumberjack Show
F or years Gene Campbell worked tirelessly for the
Western Oregon Exposition, Inc. better known as the
WOE Fair. He came to Cottage Grove from Cheha-
lis, Washington, married a local, Anella Martin, and
had six children. Gene was a timber faller and owned
a farm and also a member of the London Grange.
Around 1968 he organized one of the fi rst Logging
shows for the WOE Fair, a tradition that carries on
today. He was passionate about preserving the heritage
and history of the areas logging traditions. For over 40
years Gene organized and helped run the logging show.
Without his commitment and tireless effort there would
be no Fair or Logging show.
The Cottage Grove Community owes a great deal of
thanks to this dedicated citizen. We of the WOE honor
him by continuing the tradition of logging with the
Gene Campbell Memorial Lumberjack Show.
